What is your opinion of vow renewals?

My parents have been happily married for 52 years. Before their 50th I asked them if they were interested in a vow renewal. My mother said something like the first isn't broke so leave well enough alone. My father said something like the first vows were to death to us part and they are still working on those but the love has never left so no need to refresh.
