What is your next race? Disney or Otherwise?

Your races sound so exotic to me !!
Im doing the loch leven half in a few weeks, then the dunfermline half,

Then in October the Loch Ness Marathon:worship:

I guess it's all a matter of one's perspective. Your races sound so exotic to me!!!

fashionista311-

My next few halfs are part of the nyrr borough series - brooklyn (may), queens (july), bronx (aug) and staten island (sept) in order to get guaranteed entry for the nyc half in 2012, as well as to work towards my 9 races to get guaranteed entry for the full marathon in 2012

seriously 9 races to get entry? That's a big ask isn't it! Got themselves an excellent way to guarantee race participants and get lots of dollars!!!!

Next race- London Marathon 17th April, first time, running for Asthma UK. As of right now.... no idea why I'm doing it! My body's wrecked. If you asked a few months ago I'd say it's the big one in England and I wanted to experience it!

I just finished the Georgia Half Marathon this past weekend with a time 50 minutes faster than the Princess ;)

My next will be Chicago Marathon. My first full marathon.
Why? I always wanted to do Chicago after watching 'The Spirit of the Marathon'. Its flat, beautiful city tour, crowd support, 45000 other people doing it with me, and one of the 5 world majors. My choice was between the Savannah inaugural RnR and Chicago. While Chicago will be way more expensive, I wanted that atmosphere for my first.

OK...here we go with the races I've signed up for through Marathon Weekend...

My scheduled races:

4/10 NYRR Scotland Run 10k
4/30 EIF Revlon Run for Women (women's cancer fundraiser) 5K
5/8 NYRR Japan Day 4M
5/17 NYRR American Heart Association Start! Wall Street Run 3M
6/11 NYRR New York Mini 10K (yes, it's a women's only race...but it's historical because before women were allowed to run Full or even Half marathons, this was the race we could run...and no I will NOT be wearing pink or purple)
6/25 FRNY Pride Run 5M
9/4 Disneyland HM
10/1 Wine and Dine HM (ok, technically it's not paid for yet, but it will be on 4/15)
1/8 Walt Disney World Marathon

I'll be adding more fall races once those go up for registration on NYRR's site. But all in the 15K or lower category.

I suppose.

Have you done the great north run.

I loved that race, it was AMAZING

My application in this year's general ballot was successful so the great north run will be my first race outside of the US this September. Glad to hear good things about the event!

Have you run City Pier City 1/2 over in the Hague? I hear that its a very fast course that attracts elite runners (not that I'm fast or elite).

I'm thinking of doing a local half, the Towpath Half Marathon on April 2nd. I train on the towpath and it is just a logical fit if I can get the time to do this one.

Otherwise I'm doing the Firecracker Triple in Portland, OR on July 2, 3 and 4 that will be 3 consecutive days of half marathons.
*-2nd July Stars and Stripes Half in Beaverton OR
*-3rd July Freedom Half in Gresham OR
*-4h July Foot Traffic Half in Portland OR
Hope I can do this. There are a few of us WISHers doing this. It's a party!

I've never done this event and found out about it from another WISHer. We're checking off the states as we get those halfs done.

Don't forget to post your events on the WISH Event Calendar 2011 You may enjoy meeting up with some WISHers too.

Sweet! I'm sure I can convince DH to head "down south" for at least one of those events. We're only a couple hours from Portland, so I'd love to meet up with some WISHers if we can! :goodvibes

My next race isn't until June 5... the North Olympic Discovery Half Marathon on the Olympic Peninsula in WA. We're doing our annual race for the Arthritis Foundation, so we've been enjoying training with the AF again this spring. :goodvibes I love to "give back" to a charity once a year, even though we find it challenging to raise money every year!

After that, the next race we're registered for is the DL half in September. Excited to be going coast to coast this year!

My next race is a back-to-back half marathon weekend. Louisville Derby Mini Marathon on Saturday, April 30, then driving back home and doing the Flying Pig Half the next morning, Sunday, May 1.

Been doing several back-to-back training weekend days so I hope that my legs are conditioned. On the other hand, last year I did no back-to-back weekend long runs and finished the Goofy Challenge just fine so 2 halfs shouldn't be any harder and in theory should be easier.

It has the best atmosphere I have ever had in a race and Ive run a more than a few now!
Dont expect a good time at the gnr, too busy, expect a big warm welcome from the locals though!

It is the only race Ive ran in england , we are in scotland and tend to go up the way rather than down for the nice scenery (Loch Ness Marathon:worship:)

There are a few other dis boards here in the uk I can get you links and you can ask arounf if you like, Lynne

3 consecutive halfs! Good luck, that is both rough and impressive.

Now that the National is done my next "big" race is the Pittsburgh half. Once we get into April I do a local race just about every weekend but almost none of them are anything people outside of the immediate area would have heard of. They are mostly 5Ks through 10Ks.

I'm doing the Frederick Half Marathon on May 7.
Why? It's close to home.

Then in October I'm doing the Baltimore Half.
Why? Two reasons:
  1. I get a cool Maryland Double medal for doing the Frederick and Balti Half in the same year.
  2. I get to run through Camden Yards.

I hope to run some shorter races like 5Ks and 10Ks over the summer but the above two are the ones that I have already signed up and aid.

Does a 10k count?

I won the lottery...entry into the Peachtree Road Race 10k July 4th here in Atlanta. It used to be the biggest 10k in the country, its now up to 60,000 runners...that is NUTS. Its a very fun social race - not one to go for PR, though it can be really hot and humid and is a very hilly course. Hopefully I will sign up for a 5k before then...still resting the foot from the princess. AND after I complete the Peachtree will sign up again for the Princess next yeah!

I'm doing the Frederick Half Marathon on May 7.

I'd be interested to know how the Frederick half is as far as race management and layout goes. If I don't go back and do the National Half next year this race is a good substitute.

Valley of the Lillies Half this weekend.. because I'm a sucker for inaugural races, and I like to run something on my birthday every year! :)

I'm running a 5K in Wilmington, NC, at Mayfaire. It is called the Cape Fear Big Buddy Run. This is my first race since the Disney Princess 1/2 marathon in February. I am working on my speed for the Disneyland 1/2 marathon in September. I am new to running and have done only a 10K (for a seed time for the Princess) and the Princess 1/2. Looking forward to receiving the C2C medal in September!

RunAPlooza Relay Marathon for the Special Olympics, held on the boardwalks of the Jersey Shore, in April....:cool1:

Rock and Roll Half Marathon Seattle June 25th

And then my first disney run :cool1:
...Wine & Dine Half Marathon Orlando Oct 1st

Next Saturday I will do the inaugural Summerlin Half Marathon near Las Vegas.

My DH is attending the NAB conference in Las Vegas, so I always try to find a race to run - usually its a 5k, but this looked like fun.

Next up after this will be:

Disneyland Half - getting my Coast to Coast :cool1:
then Columbus Half in October.

My next race is the Bay to Breakers in May, followed by my first triathlon and four Disney 1/2 marathons within the next 9 months.
