Just out of curiousity, since we have so many avid runners on this forum...

What is your next race? Have you done it before? Why did you choose the particular race?

My next race is the DL Half which I will do for the second year in a row. I chose it for the Coast to Coast challenge and because I love Disney Medals. :goodvibes

Siggie don't lie....less than one month away! Never done it before--may never do it again, but I (hopefully) get to say I finished! I don't have a "bucket list", though.

After that.....I have no clue. Better figure something out before I lose my motivation. My daughter is going to work in Germany this summer/fall, so I'm trying to find a race to do there.

What is your next race?

The National Half marathon next weekend.

Have you done it before?

Yep, last year.

Why did you choose the particular race?

For the same reason as last year. A group of my friends, also runners, wanted to go see DC in the spring and we made sure the trip was around the race. We also have free places to stay in DC so it makes for a cheap race (relatively).

This year there is the added reason that I loved the course and support.

Boomtown Half Marathon. Local race thru town. It's in June. Jeff Galloway will be hosting a class a few days beforehand and also speaking at the event the night before the race. :thumbsup2

I have my next three races mapped out, plus a couple more in the tentative pile.

My next race is the Illinois marthon. I've done it the past couple years (since it started) - chose it because it is at UIUC, which is my alma mater. It's reasonably close, and, if I can't find a hotel, I can probably find a friend who will give me space on the floor to crash. It's also close enough (4 1/2 hours, less if traffic cooperates) that I can drive back the same day as the race if I have to.

I have the Kalamazoo marathon the week after that (once I sign up, anyway), and the CRUD trail ultra a few weeks after that. Not planning on racing any of the three - the marathons are basically going to be long training runs, though I would like to approach 40 miles for the ultra. (It's a timed race, with no set distance.)

Next race? NYC Half tomorrow.

Run it before? Nope!

Why this one? I live in NYC and won't have guaranteed entry into the full until 2012. This looks like a pretty fun course - you get the hills of Central Park over with in the first half, then it's all flat to downhill. You get to run through Times Square!! :D I entered the lottery and was one of the relatively few NYCers who got in (long story...but a small number of slots and a huge number of lottery entrants meant a tiny percentage got accepted). I'm pumped!!

Next one is the Boston Marathon 5K. Going for the weekend, my dad's running the Marathon and my sister lives there. I did it last year, lot of fun, closest I'll coming to running Boston. Plus the finish line is the same, so I get to cross the line!

My next "bigger" one is the Bay to Breakers 12K in San Francisco. 1st time doing it, people always talk about it being one of the races you have to do sometime in your life and it's the 100th this year so I registered. It's a crazy race with people in costumes, some drink, some go naked!! About 1/2 run to run they other do it to party. They capped it at 55,000 but luckily I got a corral so I won't be stuck in the back.

Good Luck to all of you that are running your races soon! I know you all will do great - after all you have Pixie dust to push you along! :wizard: It is neat to see how many different races everyone is running in. I guess I need to expand my horizons and start running non-Disney races!

I'm running Just a Short Run 30k next Saturday, which is only 10 minutes away. I ran the half marathon last year (they have a 5k, 8.1 mile, half ,and 30k) and it was a PR by over 10 minutes.

I'm using it as a training run for the Pittsburgh Marathon in May.

Next Race? ORRRC Half Marathon in Xenia, OH
Run it before? No
Why am I running it?
1) Was scheduled to work Saturdays and needed a Sunday Race
2) I have family in the area to visit
3) Cost the giant sum of $25. For tech shirt, finishers medal, Hot soup at the finish

Twinkie 5K benefiting ALS in Ann Arbor, Michigan on April 1st. The deal with the run is to eat a Twinkie before the run and at the 1.5 mile mark, each Twinkie is $5 for a donation to ALS research. With each Twinkie consumed you can shave 60 seconds off your time:thumbsup2. I'm shooting for a sub 1 minute 5K:rotfl2:.

Sounds somewhat similar to that Krispy Kreme race in Raleigh. Only your entry fee covers the 1 dozen KKs you have to consume at the halfway point before heading back.

April 2 DH and I are running "Race the Runway half marathon in Brunswick ME. Why? It's less than 10 miles a way...it has a cool medal...and it's totally flat...and....I wasn't sure we were going to make it to the Princess so I signed us up...we did make it to the Princess so this one seems pretty close!:scared1:

Now that's my kind of race! :teeth:

My next race, in April, is the Kentucky Derby Mini-marathon which is really a half-marathon. I've never done it before but I am looking forward to it and seeing other WISHers there.

verticalchaos - hope you have a GREAT race tomorrow! :cheer2:

My next is Bloomsday. It's a 12k in Spokane, WA the first weekend in May. This will be my 5th (?) year doing it, but only the 2nd time that I'll actually try for a decent time. I mostly signed up for it this year because I have a half marathon the following weekend, so it seemed like a good warm up for it. :)

My next non-Disney race is tomorrow morning: Cincinnati Heart Mini Marathon Inaugural Half Marathon. This will be half #3 for the year.

My next Disney race, sadly isn't until January 2012.

I'm running the Davy Crockett Bear Chase marathon in April. It'll be my sixth one in the past four months, and the last one I need to complete the Texas Marathon Challenge (5 in Texas between October and May).

I could handle the Twinkie Race but the KK Race - no way. I can't even eat two of those suckers without feeling sick. :crazy2: Staying away from that race!

I really love seeing all the races everyone is participating in. It is giving me lots of ideas.
