My DW, DD (8) and DS (5) are staying at BWV for the first time. I would love to hear from anyone regarding which rooms, buildings, etc. are the best (in your opinion).

Thanks!

Definitely a high room (I think we were 4th floor) overlooking the waterway between the boardwalk and MGM Studios. Our balconies (3 of them!) in our 2 bedroom villa overlooked the quiet pool and had the most fabulous view of the Tower of Terror. I loved sitting out there. I loved everything about the villas.

***A word of warning to anyone who booked preferred view at
BWV: They apparently consider ANY view of water to be a "preferred view." When we first checked in, we were given a room on the first floor that literally opened right out to the pool (not the quiet pool!). Standing probably 20 feet from our window were multiple people in their swim gear and towels. No offense to them, but I called the front desk and told them that I did not consider views of people's backsides in swimgear out my window to be "preferred view" (esp. when you consider how much extra you pay for that view!) Although the CM said that because it was a "pool view" room, it was preferred, she was very nice and moved us to our 4th floor room overlooking the waterway

I was lucky enough to be my friend's guest (DVC member) and we stayed at both BWV and OKW.
We were on the fifth floor in the "Crest of the Wave" building overlooking Spaceship Earth straight ahead, Yacht/Beach Club to our left and Boardwalk below and to our right.
It depends if you want that kind of view (people partying almost all night below you; surrey bikes going back and forth etc.). But NOTHING compares to that view. Illuminations can be seen from your balcony perfectly. Night brings all those lights: Spaceship Earth turns that gorgeous bluish-purple, Yacht & Beach is outlined in tiny white lights, The Boardwalk itself wears a necklace of cascading pole to pole lights. The sunrises (if you are an early riser) are breathtaking and once in a while you will spot a hot air balloon traveling in your direction from the east.
It is a fantastic hotel with great cast members in the lobby to greet you. You and your children will love all the action the Boardwalk holds. The view that the prior poster described also sounds terrific. It's really up to you.

Have a great time...all the best, Wilma:wave:

Wilma Flintstone, we once had a room in the same location. You described it perfectly! We ate breakfast nearly every morning on the balcony, gazing at that beautiful view. It did get a little noisy late into the evening, but it was worth it to us. Being part of the crowd on the Boardwalk, or just soaking it all in from the balcony, I can't imagine enjoying a view more than we did there. I think you'll enjoy BWV whatever your room assignment. Have a great trip!

Thank you soooo much for the VERY descriptive info! I spoke to MS and they put in my request for 5th floor - Epcot view.

Now, we want to go today!!!

Just 48 more days.

FWIW, a view of the Boardwalk/EPCOT is the most frequently requested view. Unfortunately, only about 20% of the available rooms are BW/EPCOT views. Preferred /Standard view are only relevant if you are a DVC member or renting points from a DVC member. CRO reservations are "run of the house" (guests can end up in either). Standard views are those overlooking the hotel entrance, driveway and parking lots. All others are considered preferred. In addition to views of the Boardwalk/EPCOT, some preferred rooms have views of the main pool (Luna Park), some overlook the canal and the Swan/Dolphin hotels, and some have views of the quiet pool and Community Hall building. Some of the latter have views of the Tower of Terror and the fireworks from Fantasmic. Many of the "better" views are a long distance from the elevators. BWV has only one set of elevators (but many convenient stairways).

DVC members (points reservations) have priority over cash/CRO reservations. Rooms requests (points reservations) are considered in the order the reservation was made. For example, someone who makes a reservation at 11 months has priority over someone who makes a reservation at 10 months and 29 days.

That doesn't mean that you won't (or will) get your request. One of the biggest variables is the number of rooms that are/will be vacant on the day you check in. If all the BW/EPCOT rooms are occupied, no one checking in that day will be able to get one. If only one is available and someone who made their reservation before you did requested it, the room assigner will give it to that person.

The room assigners try to meet at least you first request - for many, that is their smoking/non-smoking preference. The assigners will assume that your requests are listed in the order of importance to you. The front desk CMs do have some leeway to move people around, but my understanding is that ability is limited and they don't like to do it. BWV has a very high occupancy rate - it is usually full, even in the slower seasons.

The only way to guarantee a view of the Boardwalk is to reserve a Grand Villa (3 bedroom). All of the Grand Villas have a view of the BW.

HTH. I love the BWV and believe you will have a wonderful stay no matter what the view. Enjoy!
