What is your favorite form of indoor exercise equipment?

Hi Klayfish, can you recommend a place to buy a set of free weights and bench? I've searched craigslist and to be honest I am not a fan of websites like that, and I didn't see much anyway. I would prefer to find the best deal. Thanks!

If you don't want to use Craigslist, go to a place like Wal-Mart or Academy Sports. Here's a set from Academy that has 5-25lbs weights, which still would be great. Then if you wanted to add 30, 35, etc...you could always buy them when you're ready. http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/bcg0-lb-rubber-hex-dumbbell-set#repChildCatid=3145019

Dawn,
I for one am damn impressed that you used and broke your 17 year old Treadmill.. kudos. I walk outside a lot but the winter months can be tough. i Have a treadmill and an eliptical. i like the eliptical better because it has LESS impact.. but note, the elipticals (or treadmills for that matter) are not cheap. I also have some free weights and a smith machine of weights when i want to PUMP IRON.. that's pretty rare these days. ;) Beachbody videos are also GREAT and can be accessed and streamed online now. very cool...

With exercise programs, there are tons of options... as i age, i prefer less impact and simply LOVE walking and jogging.. i call it Indian Walking.. i walk a bit then jog a bit then walk a bit then jog a bit.. I prefer to do that outside but sometimes that just aint an option. You can find fairly new/unused treadmills only (craigslist, ebay) because lets face it.. MOST folks simply LOSE their motivation after a few months on the treadmill and it sits idle until they sell it.. ;)

Well, to be fair, I wasn't the only one using it. My husband used it regularly and my boys sometimes used it.

Ok thanks for the tip. My husband would most likely be using them as well and he would like dumbbells up to 50 lb. I think I already have a set of 8, 10 and 12 pounds. I'll have to do some searching...

I used to have an elliptical and loved it until it broke. Then I just joined a gym.

Now at home I have a step, ball, weights, resistance bands, and a mat. I use the weights, bands, and ball the most.

I have both a stair master and a treadmill....I prefer the treadmill. It's versatile (walking/running, incline/flat) and mindless enough that I can easily watch TV while on it. :-) And, it's good for all ages. If you can walk, you can do it. And, it also is something you do in real life....so it's good training for an actual life activity.

I have a love hate relationship with my treadmill. Have to admit that it sits in front of a TV so I am not bored. But I hate to work out. But saying I must for my job then well I like Disney and Disney is paid for by my job so in reality the treadmill is paying for my job and getting ready for a Disney trip!
On a more serious note I would say go to a gym and try out some new things and see what you like. Some of the new stuff that I have seen on tv looks cool. Just not sure if I would like it. We do have an elliptical but my toes go numb so I really don't use it!

My BED :duck:

Okay I rely want a Peloton bike but have no desire to shell out $2000+ for it.

I have a bench, free weights, exercise ball, yoga mat and a subscription to Daily Burn.

I've had a treadmill, a rowing machine, an elliptical machine and a stationary bike and all of them eventually bored me and I stopped using them the best investment I ever made was my barbell set. I don't like to exercise but even if I don't feel like it I can encourage myself to lift. Lifting heavy weight actually burns more calories than cardio because you will continue to burn more calories even after you are finished lifting. Cardio is good for the heart and lungs however so better to not give it up completely.
