What is your BLT/Contemorary DVC points guess?

Curious what your guess is on how much points will cost per point, how many points will be needed for stays, and the types of views there will be?

Also, just a speculation: I agree, the Bay side views will be the same as BCV, Preferred/Boardwalk BWV, VWL and AKV Savannah view. For MK views it will probably be in the range of AKV Concierge rooms (about 2-3 pts more for sun-thurs and 4-5pts more for fri-sat). And if they have concierge rooms, I would think that would be relatively more as well.

By the way, we are looking into adding on, but if the points system is too high, it will not be worth it for us. I can't justify (for myself) spending that many points especially since we like the other resorts as well.

I agree. DVC has to be careful to not make this too cost or point prohibitive. When all is said and done it will be a DVC resort with DVC amenities. Once the initial excitement of the new resort fades, many members will like some of the resorts more. If the points needed are incredibly higher than AKV for example, why should I stay at BLT. If they are a little higher for certain views, that would still have me interested.

In terms of per point cost, considering the economy, I think the $110 - 115 range would be about right. Have they ever sold two resorts at the same time for different prices?

No but what they did with SSR was offer discount of it - but not the other DVC resort they were also selling.

would like the side facing CR to be price like BWV standard view, I guess bay lake would be BWV preferred view, and maybe one or two points more for MK view. If one is facing the parking lot but not the MK (which is possible) then OKW points.

I dont think it will be too high at all, if you look at the price of a basic room at the contemporary it is considerably lower than one at the beach club.

100 points - that is 20 points a night for a studio?

the VWL and BCV - points wise are priced the same. Although VWL does rent thru CRO for less.

I think when BCV started to sell it was priced the same as VWL. Again before Lewis.

so what CRO charges does not seem to have any relationship to what DVC charges.

hey look at OKW and SSR - they are both charged the same amount of cash thru CRO - but point cost - OKW is definitely a bunch less.

I don't really know what the prices will be, I think many are thinking a bit more than AKV.

But I guess for me, I am only expecting about $105-$107/pt for existing members (along with incentives as well) and about $108-$110/pt for non members. Otherwise, I think they may lose some, definitely not all, but at least ME!

Maybe this sounds naive of me, but I don't think it will be that much better than the others...I love my other home resorts and would like to add this to my list, but it's definitely not necessary....to be honest, I'm waiting for a DVC at the Polynesian ...I think I may be persuaded to pay a bit more for that

I don't think there will be a point chart for a DVC resort. Contrary to popular opinion and signals from all sides, I will still believe this one only when I see it. I still don't think it will be declared into DVC (or will be a very small resort that is only a small portion of the tower).

What they WILL do, and what I HOPE they will do are most likely two different things. My hope is that they keep the point structure in line with other resorts, as previous posters have mentioned. Perhaps a bit of a premium for MK view, but anything much beyond that and people will stay elsewhere. And remember: once point requirements are set, they remain set for the 50 year life of the contract. If they make a mistake, they can't correct it (except for minor tweaks offset elsewhere), and will be stuck with it for a long time. I hope they will decide it's better to be generous with the point chart, so that demand will stay steady over the 50 year life of the contract, rather then get greedy, and see an initial enthusiasm quickly fade. I don't imagine they'd like to see the other DVC resorts always filled, while BLT sits mostly vacant -- or is seen as a last choice -- because members don't want to pay the premium to stay there. Then again, if demand among DVC members is poor, they could always sell the space back to CRO and let them rent the rooms out for cash. Perhaps that's the plan...

As far as the price, however, they have more flexibility with that. They may start out with a high initial price, and perhaps a high initial buy-in or even add-on requirement. But if sales don't materialize as expected, they can always provide some "incentive" discounts, and tweak the buy-in requirements. My guess is that's how things will proceed.

These were based on the original DVC filing but with one of the rumored reasons for the delay being the potential to increase the point requirements they will no longer be valid if we see a re-filing of the main point charts by DVC.
