Do you know your ancestral descent?

My cousins, on both sides of the family, have researched our family history and we are (100%) English. :)

I don't know the exacts but I can guesstimate that I'm mostly Irish with a bit or German mixed in.

I'm English, German, Dutch, & Irish, that we know about. DH is English, Italian, Native American, & Hungarian Jew, that we know about. So, our kids are.... umm... American. :)

My dad was 100% Irish, and my mom was a European blend with a little Native American tossed in for good measure.

English (family is from Wales)
German
Native American

I am a typical American mutt of Irish, German, and Scottish, as well as French Canadian and Native American both from Prince Edward Island. The funny thing is that my DH also has both French Canadian and Native American blood originating from Prince Edward Island. We might be related! (kidding....)

My father is 1/2 Irish. The other half we really don;t know because his father was adopted. The people who adopted him were of british descent, but that doesn't relate to actual blood heritage. My mother is 100% Slovak.

So I am 1/2 Slovak, 1/4 Irish and 1/4 something else.

I'm English, German, Irish, Italian, French Canadian and Blackfoot.

I'm English and Dutch. My family has been here since the late 1600's. DH is 100% Polish. He's 3rd generation American.

My mother's family is Heinz 57, German, Scotts, Irish, English, French, and just by the looks of some of the cousins, American Native.

Dad is 100% Portugese, both of his parents were either born there or on the ship coming over.

DW Caropooh is Scots/Irish on her dad's side (I have one of his lines back to 1610 in Scotland) and Welsh on her Mom's. Both Dadcu and Mamgu were born in Wales and came over after WWI. Dadcu was in the British Navy and was part of the fleet sent to Vladavostock to pick up Tsar Nicholas and family.

My mom's side:

Her mother's mother was a Mexican-Indian and her mother's father was Spanish-Mexican. They came to America in the late 1920s.
Her father's parents were Spanish-Puerto Rican. Her father came to the States in the military, but lives in Puerto Rico now.

My dad's side:

His paternal grandfather's family was from Ireland, his paternal grandmother's family was from Scotland. The first member of our family came here from Ireland in the 1850s.
His maternal grandfather's family was from Germany. We don't know much about his maternal grandmother.

The simple answer is I'm hispanic from my mom's side, and Scotch-Irish from my dad's.

DH's mother's family is Cherokee somewhere down the line. His father's family is Mormon, so I'm sure I could find out everything about that side if I wanted to. We know his last name is English.

Me: German, Welsh, French and Irish (Scots-Irish)
DH: Swedish and German

I am English, Irish, Russian, Italian, Dutch, and Cherokee.

German...Both Grandparents on Dad side came over through Eliss Isand at age 9 and 11

Mom side...England...Pilgrams...came over on both the "Mayflower" and next Pilgram ship the "Fortune"

I am French, English, Irish and Dutch. DH is Italian, Irish and Swedish. That makes us SWAMP YANKEES.

My dad has researched this quite a bit... he's 1st born American, his dad came here from Germany and his mother from Holland. We have many relatives on his side that were in the German and Dutch Navies, back in the 1800s. In fact, there's a town that is the same as my maiden name! :thumbsup2

My moms side is a little more complex... both her parents were born here, but her mother was raised by an aunt or grandmother, I forget, and so things got a little confusing. But her ancestry is some German, Russian, Prussian, & Lithuanian. And I believe it's the Prussian part where there's some royalty, not that I'm seeing anything from that!! :rotfl: Plus the fact that it doesn't exist anymore.

The funny thing is that my parents are currently meeting new, longer distance relatives. My mom's brother, my Uncle, researched their family, his son lives in the Czech Republic, and found these relatives. It's their 3rd cousin, I think, and her 2 H.S. age DDs. They flew into Chicago this morning, and my aunt and uncle drove down from WI to pick them up, then they all drove the 30 minutes to my parents house. The German relatives are staying with my parents, and my aunt and uncle at a nearby hotel. They'll be going downtown tonight to the Sears Tower, tomorrow, all day downtown, and then Wednesday, Lincoln Park Zoo. After which, to my mom's lack of knowing, we're all meeting at a restaurant, where she'll be surprised with a 60th birthday/Happy Retirement party!

DF side - Canadian Grandmother (Nova Scotia) most likely of Scottish descent, Irish descent Grandfather. Probably some other things in there. I really need to speak with DF about things before his Alzheimers gets the best of him.

DM side - French/German depending on the year due to border disputes, English (we have second cousins that DM visits). We can trace Maternal Grandfather's side back to pre Revolutionary War (the famous part of the family).

I am sure that there are other nationalities tossed in there also for good measure.
