We are planning on going to the MNSSHP next Oct. and we are planning on arriving on a Thursday around noonish and going to a party that night (based on past years I think this will pan out) and then going to F&W on Sat. and flying home on Sunday. However my b'day is Sunday so we might come home on Monday.

The shortest trip we have done is usually 6 nights. I know people that live within driving distance will go for shorter stays. We live in MD. This would be a trip to do the party and one EC day. So a quick trip for DH, me and DS. Our daughter will be at college and our high school son will be a Jr and playing high school soccer so he has already opted out. :sad1:

Okay, I had to go back and look, but my shortest trips using DVC points would be as follows:

10/26/01 - Flew down Friday afternoon from Boston, did MNSSHP on Friday night, F&W on Saturday, and flew home Sunday night.

10/28/04 - Flew down Thursday night from Boston, did MNSSHP on Friday, F&W on Saturday, and flew home Sunday night.

12/9/05 - Flew down Friday night from Boston, did OFSOL at MGM Saturday night, MVMCP on Sunday night, and flew home Monday night.

So, I guess Friday-Sunday would be the shortest, but in my opinion MNNSHP and the F&W are completely worth it :thumbsup2

I'm flying down this year on Friday October 30th (my birthday) and staying at BWV for 3 nights just to enjoy F & W Festival. My flight out is Monday morning at 7AM as I still have to go to work that day (albeit a little late as I get in at 9:05AM.) I think it's totally worth it for a long weekend.

I just did a spontaneous 3 night trip from Boston to WDW in May.....although when you are home 3 nights is short and goes by so quickly, the time spent at WDW was savored and enjoyed more than I thought possible for 3 nights. Loved it and would do it again!

We have done many 3 night weekends. Sometimes we've gotten in late on Friday, stayed off site, and then went to a DVC for the next two nights. Usually this has been for a MNSSHP. I enjoy them, DH likes to get away (he travels lots for business, but going away to WDW relaxes him business trips, don't, and the weather has been good for us in late September/early October. We're doing one of these 3 nighters next weekend. 1 night AKV concierge, I'm psyched because we have the Wildlife Discovery Expedition planned for Saturday, MNSSHP on Friday, then on Saturday afternoon, we move to BCV to be closer to Epcot for the F&W booths and concert.

We're also going to Disney's HHI for just a two night weekend, that's Halloween weekend, because of the great rate that the Disney Visa was offering.

We've flown to lots of places for 2 night weekends, but 3 nights are better.:goodvibes

Oh yes, last December, my DGF's daughter sang in the CP and I was able to book a 2 night trip, one night Pop, one night AKV and I flew down for that...solo, but it was so worth it to see my DFs! I got to meet a Disboarder "canwegosoon" and her family on that trip too!

Bobbi:goodvibes

Val & I have done trips as short as 2 nights. Our usual visit is 3-4 nights. When we go with the grandchildren, its more on the range of 5-7 nights.

We like the short trips because we can go more frequently to see the parks in different times of the year. It also gives us flexibility to go for special events, like Food & Wine (3 weeks from today), or Flower & Garden (usually in May for us). And of course there is the December trip for DAP and the holiday decorations.

I am doing a quick 4 day trip with the 2 kids in January. Reason being I am already dreading the winter and my dd is having a rather rought time with school so far.

I am giving the trip to my daughter for her Birthday at the end of October.

There was a time when $59 flights were common from Southwest. We'd come down for 2-day trips. Now that we are seeing higher prices, we don't come for less than 3 - but 3-days is probably our most common length for a trip.

We leave in two weeks for F & W. We fly out at 5pm on Saturday, have Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday in the parks and fly out Wednesday morning. We get home before the bus gets home with our kids. 3-4 nights is the shortest we will do. Shorter then that isn't worth the money.

My shortest stay was my 2-night stay at BLT in August.

Flew down on Friday morning and flew home on Sunday afternoon.

It was worth it as I really wanted to experience BLT first hand.

Down on Friday, back on Sunday. Have done it 3 times - twice for Night of Joy and one other time LONG ago when we didn't have vacation time. I'm always sad at all of the things that we didn't get to do.

But I'll take a short trip over no trip anyday! Going for 9 nights next month so that will be great!

Thanks everyone. So I guess going for short trips via airplane is common. :thumbsup2 I have often thought that a short Disney trip would be fun as long as there weren't huge gaps of time inbetween trips. Then withdrawel would set in. Three things I really want to do: MNSSHP, Food and Wine and Flower/Garden. Every Oct. I want to go to the party soooooooooooo bad but with older kids in high school (now one in college) it is so hard for them to go because of sports/school/schedules. I think it would be fun to pop down for 3 or 4 days with out 10 year old though. I might have to look into F/G for next spring for him and I too. :)

DW is going down Thursday back on Monday and flying from Halifax... lucky her. ;) No me and no kids. Whatever will they do?

Jan a few yrs back, DW did the marathon and flew down on Wed with DD and DS. I flew down on Fri, stayed til Sun. Stayed at Beach Club. That is shortest for me.

3 nights.

I'm going for a 3 nighter in October for F&W.

Also just booked a 3 nights for MLK weekend, though we'll be at Bonnet Creek(got to use some of my newly aquired Wyndham points).

So are these well planned our DVC trips at the 11 or 7 month windows?

My October trip was booked the last 2 weeks of July. Booked airfare shortly after when I saw a price drop.

Just booked Bonnet Creek and airfare this past week for MLK weekend.

My trip was planned about 3 months in advance; if I hadn't gotten a good deal on the airfare, I would have cancelled. Anything around $200 is a fair price out of Chicago O'Hare; I got it for $203 R/T.

I am starting to think that our family..... with the ages of the kids..... being almost 19 almost 16 and almost 11 that we will start taking shorter trips when there is a 3 day or 4 day weekend and hit specific events that WDW is featuring like the parties or the festivals. This is what I love about being a DVC member too. We go often enough that we no longer feel like we need to see it all every trip. We have been members for 2 and 3/4 years and each trip makes me realize how with each trip we figure out we like more down time. less park time, doing other things and shorter trips would fit this category too. IN the 2 1/2 years we have truly changed our vacationing style.

If I time these shorter trips at off times like between Thanksgiving and Christmas for the Christmast party/Osborne Lights and long before Halloween for the Halloween party/Food & Wine and May for the Flower and Garden vs any where near Easter or spring break then we can make these trips without hitting huge crowdsd. We have been in the summer for the past 3 summers, 4 Thanksgiving trips and 4 late Jan. trips, a couple of May trips. Now I want to start branching out taking trips during the year inbetween more crowded times to experience these other fun times of year at WDW. However with kids in school it makes it harder. So missing one day of school to go with a teacher workday.... not necessarily a HOLIDAY three day weekend....would be great to take advantage of these other events. :goodvibes

We are spoiled. I work for an airline, so we have done many two night stays. One January we went every weekend. Gotta love those annual passes! But, flights are so full these days that we don't do as many short trips anywhere. Maybe it's our age (mid 40s no kids) but the hassle of flying and packing for short trips isn't quite as much fun as it used to be.

We love our DVC!!
