What is the shortest DVC trip to WDW you have taken if you fly?

I am starting to think that our family with the ages of the kids being almost 19most 16 and almost 11 that we will start taking shorter trips when there is a 3 day or 4 day weekend and hit specific events that WDW is featuring like the parties or the festivals. This is what I love about being a DVC member too. We go often enough that we no longer feel like we need to see it all every trip. We have been members for 2 and 3/4 years and each trip makes me realize so many things about how we are vacationing now.

If I time these shorter trips at off times like between Thanksgiving and Christmas for the Christmast party/Osborne Lights and long before Halloween for the Halloween party/Food & Wine and May for the Flower and Garden vs any where near Easter or spring break then we can make these trips without hitting huge crowdsd. We have been in the summer for 3 summer trips, 4 Thanksgiving trips and 4 late Jan. trips, a couple of May trips. Now I want to start branching out during the year inbetween more crowded times to experience these other fun times of year at WDW. However with kids in school it makes it harder. So missing one day of school to go with a teacher workday not necessarily a HOLIDAY three day weekend....would be great to take advantage of these other events. :goodvibes

My October trip, is a Mom only, boys staying home with Dad.:). In our district only elementary school kids get a conference day off between Labor Day and Thanksgiving.

We get a 4 day weekend for MLK, so it's become a sort of tradition. Plus it's been like -16F at home the last 2 yrs, so it's worth the money.

We are planning on going to the MNSSHP next Oct. and we are planning on arriving on a Thursday around noonish and going to a party that night (based on past years I think this will pan out) and then going to F&W on Sat. and flying home on Sunday. However my b'day is Sunday so we might come home on Monday.

This is almost exactly my plan for My b-day this December....

We arrive at ASMo around midnight Thursday (I'll have to grab the kids from school to make our flight)... no time for much more than travel and "ogling a few giant icons"

Friday we move over to VWL and may/may not hit MCMCP. I don't think it'll be worth it, but I do want to see MK lit up at night & this might be our only chance given there are 2 parties for the 3 nights we're there.

If we decide to hit MK Saturday to see the lights, we dodge the parade filming crowds (although I think DD will drop dead where she stands if she sees the jonas boys - she claims not to like them, hehe)

Sunday's my b-day. We have APs so I could get the fast passes, if I knew what park I wanted to use them at.

We check out Monday & catch the 11am DME to MCO. <this is where the guilt of taking the kids out of school for 2 days kicks back in>

We must see MGM lights. I did make a few adrs, considering canceling all but my favorite (CP) as it looks like too much rushing around. I just want to be free to go where I want.... it does seem to be rushed. I hope it doesn't feel that way.

We have gone 4 times right before Thanksgiving and two of those trips were the past 2 years. LOVE LOVE LOVE the Christmas decorations and the lights. Now this past time we were so disappointed the Osborne Lights were not up as early and we flew home the day after Thanksgiving and they started that night. All of the other trips they were always up.

Your trip sounds fun. :)

To date, the shortest trip we've flown down for is a week. But this year, we're doing a get-away weekend for Halloween. In fact, we're doing the exact trip you describe. We're flying down Thursday morning, the 29th, on a flight that arrives at MCO around 1:00. We're going to do F&WF that evening and the next day. Saturday, we have MNSSHP tickets for Halloween night. (I know it will be crowded on Halloween night, but the only other date they're doing the party is October 29th, our arrival date. I was reluctant to spend that much on non-refundable tickets on a travel day. With my luck, our flight would be delayed.) Sunday morning, we have breakfast at 'Ohana, then head back to SSR to pick up our DME bus back to the airport at 12:30.

Had I not found the great deal on tickets from Air Tran, we'd have never considered it.

Sounds like a plan :thumbsup2. We did the Christmas party the day we flew in this past Nov. Well we were exhausted by the time we got back to SSR. The year before we flew in the night before and did the party that next day and it was much nicer. We slept in and had plenty of energy to stay up late.

I just went down for a quick Sunday night late arrival and left the Thursday morning before Labor Day for "girls week". It was short but way fun. We're surprising our DD in Jan for MLK weekend. We land very late on Friday night and are on the last flight out on Monday night so we'll still get 2.5 days in the park and we'll try for dinners at her two favorite restaurants.

You're used to Thanksgiving, MLK weekend is a piece of cake!

We usually fly down Thurs. night, this year we went to MK on Friday and it was empty! Rode the Tea Cups with Alice and the Mad Hatter, CM's falling all over us at Cosmic Ray's.

This year we are heading out Friday am, renting a car(since we'll be "off-site" at BC).

We we usually DON"T go to park on Thanksgiving and we usually leave the day after. However our 2 earlier trips....we stayed to Sat. on the first one and went to EC on that Friday the day after and WHEW!!!! :scared1: It was crowded. We usually arrive the week before Thanksgiving and get everything we want to do DONE....then relax and take things slow starting that Tuesday of Thanksgiving week.

This sounds doable too. I will keep MLK weekend in mind. too.

We go Friday b4 Thanksgiving and leave the next Friday. The crowds MLK weekend are nothing like the anytime during that week. We usually go to AK and ride a few of our favorites, eat lunch at Flame Tree and head back to the resort on Turkey day.

My son and I flew down on a Friday from Pittsburgh, saw Star Wars Ep III Friday night, went to Star Wars Weekend Saturday and flew back Sunday. When you a Disneyphile and Dvcer, no time is too short! That's the luxury of the point system. If you got the time, points, and a little extra cash, go for it!

Enjoy your trip!

2009 Trip
SS Treehouse 11/6/09-11/10/09
BLT MK View!! 11/10/09-11/13/09

We are flying down from Washington state for 4 nights over Halloween. Red-eye Tuesday night/Wednesday morning and flying back home Sunday. Doing MNSSHP on the 30th!

We will be arriving from Turks and Caicos on Nov 11th to celebrate my husband's birthday on the 12th, and returning to our home in Oregon on Saturday the 14th.
We usually stay 10-14 days at a time, so I know it will fly by way too quickly. But, this is our 3rd trip this year.

WOW:worship: That is amazing to come that far for a long weekend.

I'm going to jump in even though we are drivers. Our drive is a little over 8 hours when driving with the single purpose of getting there as quickly as possible and 9+ with normal stops. We have driven for a three night stay once in February of 2008. That is the shortest stay I would consider for that amount of driving. We checked in at VWL on a Sunday afternoon and headed back on Wednesday morning. Short trip with just DW and me and we really had a great time!

We've done two 4 night trips. Once in January & once in May. We loved those trips - they're just a fun long weekend get-a-way.

3 nights. Do it all the time, works out great. My intention is to be able to go away with my points every 2 to 3 months in the colder months. We do a longer 5 or 6 night trip with the kids every year in Jan or Feb, and I get in a 3 nighter once or twice as well, with my cousins or friends.

These shorter trips keep me going cause once a year is so not enough anymore!!;)

Have fun!

Sounds great to me. I have always been able to get good fares with Airtran and SW so I hope this continues and that we can do a couple of these shorter trips.
