what is the most weight you ever gained on a cruise?

Go to the gym in the mornings before breakfast! It works like a charm and it sets you up for a great day. Plus, it's fun to watch the sunrise! I loved it and did not gain any weight on the cruise and I ate two dinners and two lunches everyday! Also, snack at Goofy's Galley, they have fresh fruit :) Watch the soda bar and mixed drinks, those add up and aren't really worth it in my opinion. Wine is great though! LOL.

Oddly enough, I lost 9 pounds! I think it was from the heat and all the running around! Honestly though, we really didn't eat as much as we could've. We never ate all three meals, any of the days on the ship. We would order in breakfast stuff, such as cereal, bagels, fruit and juice. Most days this was eaten at about 10:30am. We might end up grabbing something mid afternoon from one of the pool places. We would grab a snack for the show, then have the full appetizer, dinner, and dessert! It just seems like you would do nothing but sit in restaurants if you ate every meal at one. We were too busy! :jumping1: I think that if you are just aware and don't use the cruise as an excuse to go crazy, you should be able to have plenty of great food without regretting it later!

8lbs on my trans atlantic, returned 1 week ago and have taken 4 off already so not sure its true wt gain.
I never snacked though, and had 3 meals a day.I ate and drank stuff I dont normally do, had wine nearly every night,I also had cheese and biscuits nearly every night... and that was with gym and running at least 3 miles aday, I never took the elevator once and I was on deck 2.

Person after my own heart. Only fruit jusice I drink is of the white grape variety.:lmao:

1st cruise (Costa): 5 to 6 pounds -its all that good Italian food + not enough exercise

2nd cruise (NCL): maybe1 pound?? Didn't overeat, and the food wasn't that great either + lots of walking around deck and walking in ports.

Upcoming Feb 2011 Cruise: I think on DCL, I may eat more due to choices and snacking, but will try to do walk at least 2 miles a day around ship + get some good walking in a few of the ports.

Maybe since we will be on deck 2, I can use the stairs for most trips except maybe to deck 9 - we will see! The bottom line, I am so looking forward to the cruise I am not going to skimp. Have lost about 15 pounds over the summer, plan on trying to loose another 10 to compensate, as I was getting to be a bit overweight this past spring - 225 pounds!! http://www.wdwinfo.com/images/smilies/scared07.gif
Bottom line: I want to enjoy the cruise and worry about any weight gain when I get back home.

Funny - that juice is a favorite with me as well!

Oddly enough I stepped off the WBTA a week ago 6 lbs lighter - but my feet were extra wide... 7 days of watching salt intake and I have lost another 4 lbs and my feet look normal...

Our last 7 day I lost 5 lbs in the 7 days and didn't have the swollen feet either.

Now I just need to work on loosing weight at home, or find a way to LIVE on the Magic!

I generally lose weight on a cruise and I think it's because I eat more 'real' food. I live too much on quick and packaged foods and just having wholesome freshly prepared dinners made a big difference! I still had desserts and there were some chicken strip and fries in each experience, but the additional movement and the good dinners ended up helping me instead of hurting!

Yup, this is the same for me, always lose weight onboard.

At home I'm not a good breakfast/lunch eater and too much bad snacking. Taking a cruise really straightens out the routine. :thumbsup2

Just off the WBTA and I put on 8lbs in 2 weeks plus 3 nights bewfore and after the cruise so I am not too concerned. I ate and drank what I wanted, desserts, ice cream, frozen cocktails etc, walked a lot both on and off the ship and used the stairs. I went in the gym once and should have done it more but I was so tired all the time I would have had to take a nap to get over it !!! :rotfl2:

As far as I am concerned I can make myself miserable trying to lose weight at home, but wouldn't want to spoil my long anticipated cruise by being overly concerned with my weight on board. It will probably take 2 months to shift what I put on in 2 weeks, but it was definitely worth every calorie!

I didn't gain anything on our 7 night, actually lost a couple of pounds ... I wore a pedometer and made sure I did 10,000 steps a day (stairs and laps, more stairs and laps). I also don't eat bread at all (celiac disease) and only ever take a bite or two of anything with potatoes or rice.

This was with having a grown up beverage every day and creme brulee for dessert every night (I love it, it is wheat free, and it is small, and the chef would make it for me every night)

your so funny Darah.

Walking is ok, but you would have to walk for 2 hours to burn of a sweet nearly so for me that is normally very active walking etc doesnt really help all that much, but I suppose it helps a bit, I was super active on the cruise and still gain 8lbs,lol.
Even walked from the ship to the apes in Gibralter, wonder how many steaps that was:confused:

I gained 10lbs on a 7 day cruise! It was on the Carnival Dream. I ate so much! Ive been on plenty of cruises prior to that one and never gained a thing :confused3

We went on a 7 day cruise last year, only used the stairs and worked out in the gym every day. I lost a pound!

I actually lose weight when I cruise! I think it's because I can't graze like I do at home and we are very active while cruising. What ever it is, I would love to keep that lifestyle! Cna you imaging LIVING on DCL AND losing weight the whole time?

I gained 6 pounds on my 7 day, and I don't regret a single bite of food I ate! I treated my cruise like Thanksgiving and Christmas...I just expect to put on a few pounds because the food is SO delicious! I just love to eat, and love good food, so I am careful all year so that I can enjoy during these special occasions. Our November 09 cruise did occur right before Thanksgiving, so by the end of the holidays, I had put on a total of 8 pounds (I normally put on a couple of pounds during that time of year anyway), but just by going back to my normal portions and balanced diet, I lost it all within a couple of months.
This is just me, right or wrong, but I just don't let myself worry too much about my weight when I am trying to have a relaxing, magical time...that worry can wait until I am back to reality! :)

Gained nothing on my 4-day wonder...
lost 2lbs and gained some calf muscle defination
Herhe's how.

Took the stairs most of the time (wait for elevator was to long)
We were on the 2nd floor, so to take the stairs to the 3rd floor was much quicker.
Once on the 3rd floor to get DD3 to the clubs on the 5th floor we took the stairs again, then I would check the navigator and to my wonder it would be a charter meet or photo opp on another floors, so I would run back to 2nd floor to get her princess dress then, back to 5th to get her then back to 3rd for pictures, uh oh now its time to take her back to the club so we took the stair again and I go and put dresses back in room on 2nd floor.

Don't get me wrong I did take the elevators as well. But I sure hit the stairs a lot (not bad if you take it 1 or 2 stairs at a time)

I was also part a a meet group/FE and running from one end of the ship to another to deliver gifts helped with the weight lost.

Buy the time it was time eat I would do it again, go get DD3 out of club take stairs to 3rd floor to eat, then stairs back to 5the to drop her off afterward-

When out by the pool stairs to 10th form 9th

And that is my DCL weight loss program...yes I was very tired at the end of the day...but it was fun, and a few times taking the stairs we ran into Bell, Peter Pan, and someone else as they were headed to the kids club :flower3:
