Has anyone stayed off property for HHN and walked back after closing? Prices are really high right now and I plan on checking back, but want to get something booked. I have never stayed across the street from City Walk and was looking at Holiday Inn, Hyatt House etc but I know we will be closing down HHN to take as much in as we can--is it a safe walk in the middle of the night or would it make more sense to drive across the street and park in the garage?

Even Dockside and Surfside?
Yes, unfortunately. We have concert tickets for Hard Rock otherwise I would never try to get a room Friday night. Im hoping for HHN Thursday for lower crowds, but the Friday night is double Thursday rates and driving home after the concert isnt ideal

It's safe to walk to the hotels across the street. Sidewalks set away from the street for the most part, and well lit. But it's an extra walk at the end of a long night of walking. If you don't mind the extra trek, go for it!

Yeah - the prices are MUCH higher what I paid in past years- pretty much higher than what I usually pay for Aventura Skyline view..

I'd say keep watching every day as the prices do change. If you find a price you can live with then book it.

Right now I am booking one of the Epic hotels as its the least expensive.

The problem with offsite is transportation is a PITA. Also be sure to watch out for resort fees with offsite.

I've considered some of the Hiltons in the area in the past and it was not worth it - but it might be this year.

We’ve stayed once offsite and walked to and from the parks which we felt was safe. The length of the walk was somewhat comparable to walking from Cabana Bay or from Portofino. Here’s that trip report with my thoughts about it although it’s 3 years old. We stayed at Hyatt Place which was under major renovations back then.
