What is the most boring vacation you have been on?

I can see that. I grew up there and there truly was nothing to do at that beach. I remember when we got there, I thought, "Oh cool! This is just like Myrtle Beach!" and as we rode down the strip, I kept looking for the rides. I thought, "any minute now..." Nothing. It was just beachwear shops and hotels. Why would anyone want to go there? My first job was at one of those candy shops.
I enjoyed the trip under the bay from Delaware. Williamsburg had potential until I found out how much extra I had to pay to see model buildings instead of originals. Busch Gardens was a little interesting but really not my cup of tea after visiting Disney. My kids enjoyed that. The problem we had was we would go out on the beach and rent an umbrella and beach chairs. We would use them for an hour or so and a monsoon type storm would come through making us lose out on those items (umbrella and chairs) for the rest of the day. Also we were there when they were pumping in sand from the ocean out quite a distance to rebuild the beaches that were wiped out by a hurricane. I don't remember which one. That was interesting for a little while but quickly wore thin. It was in the 90's when that happened.

BG Williamsburg has built up so much since then. We love it down there. It’s actually the one place we’ve custard as much of not more than Disney

Marblehead OH about 20 years ago with DH extended family. I was ready to come home 2 days after we got there.

I don't know if I really have a most boring one. If anything it was visiting my sister in Florida when I was a teen. We didn't do much as my parents were just wanting to visit.
Otherwise my least favorite has been traveling with my inlaws. We have very very different schedules, preferences, attitudes etc. I will not travel with them again...willingly.

Wait just so I know the Rule are we saying that boring vacations are bad ?
Cause to me the whole idea of vacation is to relax and have nothing happen worst than getting my dinner stain on top of my lunch stains
I think it’s more so, from what I’m seeing and the trip I mentioned, boredom due to various factors. I still find something fun about each vacation, but some of us are people who like relaxing maybe one day out of our trip, and then go whereas others are go go go.
I know a lot of people who love beach vacations, cruises where they don’t get off the ship, resort only stays. You do you as I always say!

I love relaxing on the beach with beverages, listening to the waves, a little music, maybe reading a book. I was told we were staying on the water in Marblehead OH and it was 'the beach'. It wasn't. It was rocky and there was no beach to do the things I enjoyed doing. There was 'a beach' about a mile away that one day we went to for about an hour. It wasn't a beach.

In my 30 years of marriage, I came to the conclusion a long time ago trips that involve visiting family are obligations, they are not vacations.

I'm not sure trips to visit my grandparents when I was a child count as vacation, but it sure wasn't fun!

When I was in my early twenties we went camping at the beach (we generally went once every summer) with the intention of staying for around a week. But we packed up after one day because I realised I wasn't in the mood to relax - I was so bored!

I have found myself bored during parts of vacation. Certain cities spring to mind, I'm looking at you Geneva, Cardiff, Salzburg.

Gettysburg when I was 6 years old. I kept trying to sneak back into the car to take a nap and my parents weren't having it. I was so bored, I sat on the ground and asked them to leave me where I was and get me when they were finished looking around. No luck with that suggestion.

Agreed!!! Visiting family is NOT a vacation!!!!!

You lost me with the on the beach part..... I love every part of that except the sand..... I'll be at the Conrad across the street.... cute lady bringing me beverages, still get the song of the sea, mixed with some peaceful music, and some wings..... call me in a week... The same goes for the pool at a resort.... with quick trips to the parks to eat.... then the escape

I could hang out at the pool too! The trip probably could have been saved if the B&B we were staying had a pool but alas it did not. No beach, no pool. DD was about 4 at the time. Trying to find things to entertain her for a week at a place like that was a job.

Planned a 6 day father son cruise in 2019 and paid for the entire vacation. He bailed on me the day prior to sailing for reasons that don't stay in theme with this thread. While I normally don't mind doing things as a solo traveler, this was not one of those times.

is that reason now called your daughter in law?

I went on a fishing trip with DH and his parents and an aunt. I discovered that sitting in a boat for hours is not my idea of excitement. The only interesting moment was when DH somehow hooked his aunt in the ear and his Dad never stopped talking about ow DH couldn't get his hook out of the boat while I always did.

Sometimes I find it so annoying that I compare every theme park to Disney, but I do! What in the world is it that feels so different there? I'm the same when I go to other theme parks, I walk around thinking, "Why WOULDN'T you make your park like a Disney park?" I never understand why everything is just thrown there willy nilly with no real theme. Some try, like Busch Gardens, but they all fall flat.

See I disagree. BGW has actually won landscaping awards for years and during the pandemic both them and BG Tampa really went above and beyond for educational res courses with kids for the animals. Plus they do have different things. Sure they’ve taken away some great stuff (I understand why big bad wolf was redone to verbolten and tbh that was a vast improvement. But losing curse of dark castle and cork screw hill was so sad. Cork screw hill did have a replacement I can’t go on (VR glasses-I can do 3D because they aren’t attached to my head. I have blephiritis in my eyes it can cause severe issues if I wear VR), but in the end it’s still a park I love.

I love visiting theme parks. I like seeing new things. Seeing the history. And for me, I love walking around Williamsburg. I always do a pottery piece as well. Every theme park and theme park resort has their pros and cons. Everyone has their own opinions. I always recommend giving a place one more try and if you don’t like then don’t go back. But I do think people love theme parks for different reasons.
And while I love Disney and Universal , sometimes I don’t want everything to be like Disney and Universal

Where I grew up, Busch Gardens Williamsburg was where we went for every single field trip. It was only 45 minutes away. I agree it's a beautiful park. I just don't get the "I need to live here" vibe that I get when I'm at a Disney park. I will always swear that there is subliminal messaging going on there. I don't know, the closest to a whole "vibe" that I've found was in the Universal parks. Heck, Sea World is a beautiful and impressive looking park and I've gone a few times, but I don't ever start planning my next trip back the moment I get home from there. As an avid theme park traveler my entire life, while I appreciate different aspects of other parks across the country, for me, Disney feels different. The worst I've ever been to, was here in my backyard. Hard Rock Theme Park. Imagine, a children's coaster that pumped out "Take it Easy" by the Eagles. lol There was a dark ride set to "Knights in White Satin". I WISH I was making this up! lolol The park lasted exactly 2 seasons. Someone lost their rear end on that one.
