What is the most beautiful name you've ever heard?

Grumpy you have kept me laughing the entire thread.

I have a short list,
Rayne
Karleigh
Keira
Sophia
Kara

and I've seen a few here I like as well. I think Marena is pretty. A nickname could be Rena.

My favorite is DD's name, Emily. DH and I picked it long before we had a daughter (and long before every other girl you meet was named Emily)!

Other favorites - Katherine, Grace.

I had a friend growing up whose name was Elisabeth - her family called her Liesl (I guess it's a German nickname for Elisabeth). I always thought it was a pretty name.

Haven't read the whole thread, but I can't help but remember the story I read somewhere years ago.

An aisan couple (don't remember where exactly) had learned English after emigrating to the US. When the wife gave birth to a daughter, they named her the most beautiful word in English they had learned:

Diarrhea!

Another quick story: Late 1800's I believe, family name is Hogg. Wife gives birth to a daughter, husband insists on continuing the tradition of naming the first born daughter Ima - Ima Hogg!

True story I know for a fact. A family was like first generation emigrees. Their last name was Fuchs - pronounced just like the f-word. When the father went to school to complain about his kids getting hassled, he was told that he had to understand the meaning of the word in our culture.

Amazing! We haven't met many other girls with Ashlyn or Ashlynn!

UMTerp
Hey, we have an Ashlyn. One of our twin DD's is named Ashlyn. DH loved the name when he first saw it written.

Funny thing is, he saw it in the newspaper & it was the name of a stripper!!! :scared1:

Haven't seen this name mentioned: Selena

There are soooo many, my grandaughter is Chloe,
I also like Emerson(a girl on these boards is naming
her baby that) Avery, Morgan, Ava, Airanna, Delaney, just to
name a few. Is there a name your leaning toward??princess:

Emerson is a boys name and reminds me of Elmer Fudd, or a janitor.

I have a good friend who named her DD "Ann-Rene"...just love it every time I hear it! :goodvibes:

While I don't know if these are 'beautiful' my DD's are named Lauren and Caitlin. My nephew's BIL just had a DD they named Anais.

In High School, I had a Linell in my class. I always liked the name and gave it serious consideration. Unfortunately, I caved in when my sister kept telling me how awful it is. :sad2:

I love Caitlin!! I forgot to add that to my list. I would have loved to have Caitlin/Katelyn (if my DS2 was a girl) but then I would have Nate and Kate so I decided against it. :rotfl2:

All I can say here is there are so many great and wonderful names for both boys and girls. Just please think before you name them of

1. If it's a unique name or spelling how most people will say it without knowing.

2. Never, ever have it ryhme with their middle or last name.

These things will stick with the poor kids forever (well at least through school) and will be a source of pain and torture.

I remember meeting a lady that her two daughters were named
Lashuanunda
and
leeterunda

Don't remember where they originated.
