It's a small fridge with a key. If there isn't someone over 21 in the room, or you don't leave a CC or deposit, they won't give out a key.
The minifridge is stocked with a variety of items, spirits, wine splits, soda, and snacks. Sometimes there is a TEENY bit of space that you can store a baby bottle or medicine bottle, but nothing more.
Someone comes into your room daily to inventory and restock the minibar, and youa re charged for anything you take. In some hotels it's electronic, and just MOVING anything will result in a charge.
Generally it's pretty expensive, sodas run around $2 for a 12 oz can, and they add tax and a service fee on top of that. The items are NOT complimentary!!
If you don't want to be responsible for any charges, simply refuse the key at check-in.
