I am planning on joining the DVC as soon as BCV open so I have been reading this for information. What is the lottery?

Okay, well I am at it what does the D stand for in DH, DD and DS?

OKW and BWV are sold out but sometimes Disney gets points back (takes a right of first refusal on a contract, someone defaults, etc.) They recently decided to sell these points to current members as add-ons. They put the names on their waiting list into a lottery to decide who would be offered the points. I understand it was a pretty small allotment. Since this wasn't announced to the membership at large I don't feel it was entirely fair. To my knowledge, they've never done this before and I hope they don't handle it this way in the future.

The DH, DD, etc. stands for something with a "D" -- Dear, Disney, etc. and the second letter is Husband, Wife, Daughter, Son.

Sometimes DD means Downtown Disney -- but I think you figure out the different uses for DD. ;)

The "lottery" was recently seen here to describe the availability of a few points for add-ons at BWV and OKW. Disney no longer has any contracts available at those resorts, but got some points when some other contract deals fell thru. A lottery was used to offer those few points to existing members.

A lottery was also used to offer reservations to members for New Years reservations for Dec 1999.

In both cases, the lottery was a short lived device to aid for a specific purpose, but is not a normal component of DVC.

The "D" stands for Dear or Disney (others may suggest other uses) as in Dear Husband, Dear Son, Dear Wife.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the answers, can't wait to become a DVC member.

Morning Doc! Sometimes it looks like we're having a typing contest. I'll try to control my "big mouth". ;)
