I am not a fan of spiders and as a result I'm not sure if the ride is suitable.
Is the spider part like the beetles on The Mummy Ride? If it is similar I'd be ok and wouldn't want to miss out on the rest of the ride as a result, but if they jump out or feel like they are on you in the dark I'd hate it.

If what you need to explain gives a suprise away I'd rather know than not :goodvibes

Thank you

i wont explain fully but its nothing like the mummy beetles!!

go - you will enjoy it!!

the dementors made me jump though ;-)

Oooo I am glad this subject has cropped up.....

Our youngest daughter has discovered HP over the Xmas period. She is 5 in a couple of weeks and she watched the first HP film for the first time and LOVED it..... she now wants to watch the second one but I just need to find the time where I can sit with her just to make sure the film is appropriate :rolleyes1 I had to warn her about some of the language in the first film and that she is NOT to repeat it :lmao:

She is now desperate to go to the HP area of IOA on our visit at Easter but I am unsure about what is there and what is suitable for LO's? She is a real daredevil compared to her older sister but I'm not sure on what is there.....

Anyone visited with LO's?

Thanks.

I don't know for sure but as she is only 5 she is probably not tall enough for most of the rides. I'm sure she'll still enjoy the shops and seeing the buildings though as its really well done.

I really don't think you will have a problem with the Spiders. As per a PP I won't give anything away but it's really a fun not frightening part of the ride

There is lots to do for little ones in the area including the Flight Of The Hippogriff (children's coaster) and kids would love the live entertainment and touring the shops

There is also Olivanders but whatever you do get there early and do this first as the lines get really really long (skip it if the lines are huge as you can live without seeing it)

The detail in the area is amazing and even if you don't do a single ride it's great to just be there drinking butter beer :cloud9:

Don't want to put a downer on Wizarding World but we just went last week and were very disappointed :sad2:

It was a COLD Monday and we got there for opening but the WW was absolutely packed, it was quite chaotic and anyone with buggies and scooters was struggling to get around. There were queues for all of the shops and Honeydukes was manic with people pushing and shoving (and someone had been 'ill' outside).

The ride itself was crazy, we had a scooter user in our party who had to transfer into a wheelchair but there was no specific area for this, we were then put into the queue for people without bags as we did not need to go to the locker area (we found out that we would be able to leave our bags with the wheelchair but we had to ask 3 people before this was explained!) No-one really knew what the 2 separate queues were for especially when they said one was for people with no bags and we were all there with bags

The castle, which is the queuing area is amazing but for some reason it just didn't flow at all, we stood in the greenhouses for about 20 minutes in a solid queue but then when we got back inside the castle were rushed through the classrooms with no waiting at all, I don't know why the greenhouses have become such a bottleneck but I guess it will be very uncomfortable out there in the warmer weather.

The ride itself, well out of 5 (adults) of us only 2 would ride again and that's mainly because it stopped when we were on it so we lost the sync with the sounds and pictures and want to see how it should work! The dragons and spiders are not so scary however if you get stuck right in front of them it would be pretty uncomfortable! We got stuck under the Whomping Willow kind of lying on our backs with our feet in the air! Like I said the sound continued and then when the ride started again (probably 3 minutes later) we were then bobbing about in front of a blank screen with no sound.

Because of the technology there are times when you feel as if you are flying backwards and almost upside down and anyone who suffers any type of motion sickness is likely to find this quite difficult. My mum, in her scooter, asked one of the staff before riding if it was fast/what the movement was like and was told it goes less than 5 miles an hour and is smooth... Well maybe it does but it makes you feel like you are all over the place.

I think it's a real shame that they haven't made the castle an attraction in it's own right as I think that's the real draw of the WW.

Final note of caution - they take your pic right in front of something scary so most people have their eyes closed! Not many people were buying when we were there!!! :scared1:

Our DS6 is desperate to go on the ride.

I checked at the weekend and you need to be 48", DS6 is only 45" but is now eating his carrots and vegetables everyday :rolleyes1

Not to butt in here, but the person who said they should make the Castle an attraction apparently didn't realize that you can take a castle tour. I don't think there is a height limitiation on JUST the tour.

You miss part of the queue that way and can't see the gardens or Herbology and a couple other things but you can still watch/listen to Dumbledore and HP, HG and RW. You can always join in the regular queue if you meet the height requirement and see much of what is in the films, regarding Hogwarts then take the chicken exit out if you don't want to ride. I believe the W/C accesible is the same route that single riders take and that doesn't include the castle interior, but I'm not absolutely sure.

I know a lot of the diehard Disneyer's are anti-Universal and that colors their perception(I love Disney and first started going when Disneyland opened and even met Walt Disney and our table was next to his for an event for two hours with conversation so I'm obviously not anti-Disney), but if you love Harry Potter this will be right up your (Diagon) alley!

There is a discussion of the entire ride with spoiler warnings on Dis: www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2475970
There are others if you do a web search.

:lmao::lmao:

Great minds think alike.....

DD who is nearly 5 is 44" tall and I told her if she makes a real effort to eat her school dinners and try new foods at home she might grow enough to go on the HP rides :rotfl::rotfl: How mean is that as there is little chance of her growing 4" in 12 weeks? :lmao::lmao:

I have covered myself now as I know there is a LO's rollercoaster so hopefully she will be happy with that although I have an idea that she thinks she will be riding on a broom stick :rolleyes1

Top parenting :rolleyes1

This ride has knocked Soarin' off top place for my fav rides. :worship:
I think Disney missed out big time on this one :)

As far as we experienced everyone went through the same line be it people just wanting to see the castle, rider swap or wheelchair users the only exception being the single rider line which has stairs so is definitely not the same as the wheelchair route. There were certainly kids who didn't meet the height requirement in the regular queue and the rider swap room was very busy with parents and children.

As the whole WW has so few actual experiences I think it's a shame that they have combined the best two that's all.

I'm just trying to give MHO, I wouldn't have missed it and I would do it again but it is a unique ride and difficult to compare to anything else, my brother described it as a combination of Soarin, Test Track and the Shuttle Launch experience at Kennedy if that helps anyone!!

Good luck to all those trying to grow those last few inches :goodvibes

we were on it on oct and personally i would NEVER go back on it again, I love all rides but this made me feel so sick , so no way will I ever be back on it. It was like being stuck on a faster version of spiderman for an hour!!!

You can take just the castle tour, which is was I will be doing next time.

we did the castle tour twice earlier this month - as huge Harry Potter fans we wanted to listen to everything Dumbledore/HP/RW & HG were saying as we went around and with early entry via our stay at Hard Rock Hotel we didn't queue at all for the ride itself and had found it hard to stop and listen so the castle tour was great ed1:) - Just for added info - Despite there being no queues for us duing early entry, 2 hours later at 10am the wait fo FJ was 2 1/2 hous long - staying onsite is SO worth it!!!!:yay:

I hate scary rides/roller coasters/spiders, but had to try this as I LOVE HP!!! - I went on it twice and the second time was on my own - and for me doing things alone is unheard of - it was THAT good!!!:worship::worship:

I think in the volatile economic climate they were wise to proceed this way. Now they know it's a smashing success and the economy in the US at least is starting to recover a bit they can go forward with the second phase! Can't wait to see that.
My understanding from some in the know, is that JKR had a great deal of input and final approval.
I was told there was an Elevator as well for W/C so thought that was the route.
You are correct UK Princess, I was wrong on the queue. I forgot about the child swap, which is accessible either single rider or regular queue.

Oh for the arachnophobia challenged? The spiders spit ‘poisonous venom’. You said you didn’t care if you had a spoiler. The Dragon fogged up my glasses as well!
Luckily we had short wait times when we were there and rode multiple times on all the rides with very little wait. Hope all of you going have the same luck.

Would stretching the children be too barbaric? :rolleyes1

Is the ride suitable for a 5 year old if they make the height?

DD is 5 tomorrow and is just over 47 inches - we don't go until October so I imagine she will make 48 inches by then.

My eldest, Kai, is 6 and has seen all of the HP films (including the latest at the cinema) - he did do the ride once, but refused to do it again due to the dementors. I would say though that he LOVES the films, and so I think believes in them a bit too much, so I think he was secretly worried that the dementors were actually going to suck out his soul!!!;)

Can I ask what kind of car you are actually in? and how do you look at the screen is your head in something?

My friend is scared to death of spiders and I am worried that she won't be able to ride because of that - I mean she literally hyperventilates at the sight of a big one! I'd love it if she would come on it though.
