We are looking to visit Disneyland (1st time!!) in 2025. We would like to go during a slower time and want to use DVC points at 7 months. What is the easiest month or time frame to go? We have open availability. We would like a studio or 1br.

There is no slow time to book VGC and there is no reason to expect a slowdown of that.

Availability of DLH is a moving target. Only part of it is sold and declared right now, and we always see shifts as things go along in sales on new resorts.

Was just wondering the same thing this morning...had read/heard it's always hard to book. I'd love to plan a trip in 2024 or 2025 out there, I have only been once, for one day, in 2002, and really want to go back. We'd be good with any room type too. Will have to start checking often to get ideas if anything shows up, and when.

For generally slower times at Disneyland, I'd recommend checking out touringplans.com for their crowd calendar. You'll find that certain weeks are softer than others, but maybe not a whole month at a time (except September, I guess).

If you want the highest odds of availability, the next step would be to look at which those low crowds days have the highest points charts, or increases vs. the week before/after. Us DVCers gravitate towards low points charts, so if you want high availability you need to find days where crowds are low and points are disproportionately high.

You'll also need to be mindful of certain holidays and events. Halloween is mid-points and low/mid-crowds, but very popular for DVC owners. Likewise for Half Marathon weekend (lowest points, mid crowds, hardest availability).

For VDH, your best bet for 7m availability is a Preferred View Deluxe Studio, which will be available at 7m a lot of the year. For PV Deluxe Studios you probably don't even need to target the relatively high points seasons. If you want other room categories, you probably won't find reliable availability when points chart is low but you might get lucky.

For VGC, your best bet is a 1BR, which often make it to 7 months, and you'll need to book right at 8am ET if you ever see it. You might find a Studio here or there, but usually not for longer stays.

I booked VGC quite a bit for 7 month stays before we finally bought points. I feel like summer is the easiest to book, and race weekends and the holidays (Thanksgiving/Christmas) are the hardest. Spring break isn’t bad either, since there are so many different spring break weeks that demand is more spread out. 1BRs and 2BRs have also been much, much easier to book.

I was just about to post the same thing! When it was just VGC, I assumed there would probably be almost no way to get something at the 7 month mark. That would leave us looking at offsite hotels (which I don't want to do). We have never been to DL, only WDW and only on property. I know off site at DL and off site at WDW are 2 totally different things, but I still don't want to stay offsite! LOL Partially because I don't want to have to pay cash for a room and partially because I like my Disney resorts. We are looking at 2025 as well, and probably the fall, since we are doing December 2024 at WDW. We really only need a studio as it will just be 2 of us. I haven't looked at # of points for 1BR, but we could do it, but not stay as long.
