What is the biggest boo-boo you commit at Disney???

Staying up until 3 AM only to get up at 5:30 AM to catch our flight down. I ended up going to WDW tired and never got a chance (or gave myself a chance) to recover. I had meltdowns that made anything my 2 yr old did look mild. :guilty:

Never again will I do that...determined to get sleep the night before and build in one long nap day at least for all of us!

While i'm on a roll(you can see i've made plenty of DIS boo-boos!):

When you are walking in to the Star Tours ride at HS and you walk past all 50 Miss USA contestants, TAKE MORE PICTURES!!!!

I can get a little careless. I've had to place two calls to companies while at Disney that were kinda embarrassing:

Call 1 placed while walking out of Epcot at closing:

Me: Um, hi! I accidentally threw away my credit card.
Customer Service: Oh sure, no problem, let me get started on that for you.

Just at that moment I passed a loud speaker blaring music.

Customer Service: Are you at Disney?

Call 2 placed from a friend's phone:

Me: Um, hi! I lost my cell phone.
Customer Service: Do you know where you left it?
Me: Yeah, I think I kind of left it on the monorail . . .
Customer Service: Are you at Disney? Do you know how many calls I get from people losing their cell phones at that place? What's going on down there?

Make sure you check your room safe before you check out!

yep... one of our trips, we got about 30 mins away from the hotels (on our way home) when DH asked where his wallet, ipod, and the $500 cash were at... ummm... didn't YOU take it out of the safe:) so, we turn around, go back to POP! to get it (thankfully we recovered it all) and then turned back around and started our trip home all over again.

So, we go one December and didn't take "warm" clothes (other than jeans and t-shirts) and had to purchase jackets for the kids and sweatshirts for the adults at MVMCP... $$$

Another December we take warmer clothing and never use it. Ditto for another Dec trip.

Then, we go last December and take light jackets and stretchy gloves. BUT, we had to call home for WINTER clothes to be mailed down to us (thermal underwear type stuff)!!! It was unusually cold and windy for most of our trip.

Lesson learned... we can never accurately guess the weather at WDW in December.

Don't leave your bag in your car in the Florida sun just because its not check-in time... Melted deoderant does no good.

CROCS melt also. I had no idea that my 2 yr olds shoes would actually melt to the point of not being wearable.

One more thing. There are seveal places for young children to play that involve water splashing. Most are harmless and result in being damp at best( like the totem poles outside jungle cruise) this is not the case with the water play area right near the turn to Kali river rapids. Literally in seconds my 2 yr old was soaked like he had jumped in a pool. One second he was standing there dry and the next water came at him out of the wall and up from under his feet practically at the same time. Worse yet we were headed to boma and I didn't have a change of clothes.

Don't ever leave your Mickey Mouse rice krispie treat (dipped in white chocolate and oreo cookies) in the fridge of your hotel room the day before you return home.

Booking a last minute 5 day trip when I actually had an AP and the time and money (for a discounted value resort) for a 10 day trip. I tried to extend it, but there were several days of the following week that I were not available at the value resorts, and I could not justify the extra cost.

Don't leave your park pass in the FP machine because you're too busy counting the FPs. Your park pass is more important than the FP.

DO have the photocopy of the backs of the passes so you can get it replaced@ :woohoo:

not just break in your shoes but wear them at home for long periods to make sure they are still comfy after hours of walking. Did this once years ago the canvas sneakers that my mom and i wear everywhere at home killed us after one day of disney walking and the next day we were hitting up the local shoe store for something better... I have now learned for me bringing several pairs and never wearing any for more than one day in a row works best.

These were not from my mistake but DBIL taught me a few:

CHECK YOUR POCKETS BEFORE ENTERING INTO ANY WATER (POOL/WATERPARK)
He shorted out a digital camera after forgetting it was in his pocket and going in the pool
He also killed a cell lost it at typhoon lagoon one day because he forgot to take it out of his pocket and put it in locker... got it back few days later shorted out

If you were glasses/ contacts make sure to have a back up. Our 3rd day of 9 day trip he went to clean his glasses and they snapped in half. Luckily he had contacts for the rest of the week.

(This all happened on one trip...good thing he has a great sense of humor and it just made for a memorable trip. And he's not good with electronics 3 more cell phones have been lost to water since then)

If You know you are a car person, don't try to save money by not renting a car and relying solely on Disney transportation! Biggest mistake we ever made!!

If you see something you really want to buy, don't wait! If you later change your mind, you can return it but you may not be able to find it if you wait.

Don't travel with extended family that has a vastly different touring style than yours.

Don't forget that cabs are available. Getting from resort to resort can take up to 90 minutes on Disney buses.

Don't wear a hat while riding Splash Mountain.

I know, it should be an obvious one, but my brother forgot to take his off and let's just say the hat made it through 3/4 of the ride, only to fly off and be sucked into the waterway. Needless to say, the staff looked at us like "are you crazy?" when we asked if the hat would float up to the surface and be retrieved. :rotfl:

I also echo the comments about going early and not realizing that you will not be able to make it to the end of the night, and buying something that you want. I spent a long time trying to find something that I thought I saw at Epcot, just to realize that I originally saw it at another park.

Don't make early plane reservations to go home when you are using ME. Our first trip we had a 7:00 am flight and had to leave the Poly at 4:30 am. We also had a connecting flight, by which point DD2 (at the time) was in full meltdown, as was I.

:thumbsup2 I traveled with my best friend and his family in 07. NEVER AGAIN!!! All I'll say is they have a completely different energy level than we do. :rotfl: They stopped every 5 minutes for a break and left the park early. I would say that WDW is a waste of money for them. They got very little touring done.
Don't wear a hat while riding Splash Mountain.

My DS cap flew off on the final drop. I was sitting behind him and actually caught it as it flew past me. I then hid it for a minute to make him think it was gone forever. Needless to say, he was happy to have a father with quick hands. :rotfl:

I sleep better with my own pillow and pillow case, yep left it at the resort. I overlooked it because it was almost the same color as the ones in the room. If you bring your own pillow get a bright color pillow case so you won't miss it on the way out.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but don't forget about the time change! That was the biggest mistake I made when we traveled from California to Florida the last time we went. 3 hours is a huge difference!

Write down, call you home phone and leave the number on your answering machine and take a picture of your photopass cards. WE had the great bracelet one. Well great until we were getting off splash mountain and it was gone. Thankfully I noticed it right away and it my daughter looked back into the seat we were riding and grabbed it. I had our BBB pictures on it! About gave me a heart attack!?!?!

Also, when Magical Express was new, it was running late... we waited and waited and I kept telling them they needed to get us a cab. I should have been insistent as we almost missed our flight. I was literally trying to run there with a three year old in the stroller and a 5 year old at my side(without hubby). Oh lord, talk about stress!!

Great thread. I am at the 60 day mark and have begun to wear my new sneakers for the first time to start breaking them in. Best advice is to bring more than one pair of shoes and switch them out each day.

Dont leave your wedding ring/engagement ring on the vanity at the resort and head over to the parks. It was our first full day. We always go to MK on this day. We get off the bus and my DH goes to take my hand and says, where are your rings? I said, I must have left them on the vanity. They were in my ring box. Well he jumped back on a bus to go get them while I sat in front of MK waiting. I said I'm sure they will be ok, but he wasnt hearing it.

Make sure you check the bathroom before leaving the hotel room. DD left her lovey in the bathroom and we had to fight with BWV to get it back.

Don't forget about the banana you put in the backpack to eat later in the day.

Bring shorts, even if you are going in February.

I sleep better with my own pillow and pillow case, yep left it at the resort. I overlooked it because it was almost the same color as the ones in the room. If you bring your own pillow get a bright color pillow case so you won't miss it on the way out.

Great advice. My Dw always takes her own pillow, but I love the WDW pillows so much that I bought one they actually use (not the imitation ones in the resort collection brochure/website).

I also agree with all the posts about shoes/sandals!
