Looking to buy an early Christmas present for my hubby - does anybody have any suggestions for a good two-way radio. I am sure with a dd 8 and a ds 4 we will get separated in the park at some time - either by accident or on purpose! Any help you can offer would be much appreciated!

On one of our trips (pre cell phones) we used 2 way radios. We had a lot of problems with interference... This one time my mom was talking to some random girl on the 2 way, and neither of them had any idea that it was the wrong person! :rotfl:

We have used radios for several trips & they have worked great!!! I would DEFINITELY recommend getting some with the privacy codes, otherwise you will get lots of interference with other parties. I would also recommend getting a good brand [you get what you pay for], like Motorola, Cobra, or Midland. Most of the radios now have 22 channels & privacy channels... from one of the radios - "Front panel push buttons provide easy access to all 22 channels (7 GMRS/FRS, 7 FRS, 8 GMRS). Privacy codes (38 CTCSS and 83 DCS) provide for a total of 2,662 "sub-channels" when combined with the other 22 channels."
I think the ones we have now have 15 channels & 38 subchannels & they've worked well for us.

Good luck.

you'll go nuts trying to figure everyone out!;)

We used secret names too..but pick something REALLY obscure..you won't believe how many "Big Mama, Big Mamas" you'll hear!!:rotfl:

We got the Disney Motorola two way radios. We got the Buzz Lightyear and Mickey Mouse designs.(they also come in princess). They worked great, even from CR to Magic Kindom! We got ours off Ebay, Less than $20 for 2 radios! We ended up getting 3 sets!

We used Motorola ones the past few cruises we've been on. They worked great as long as you went to a channel number that is higher up, say in the 20s and not 1-10. My brother had it on 1 or 2 one time and he was talking to some lady who was telling him to meet him for dinner (she thought it was her son) :rotfl:

:wizard: so those are the times you should make up fun code names for eachother (which is what we did! :teeth: ) Maybe mother mouse and father mouse and brother mouse, something disney related like that :earboy2:

A word of warning, those "privacy codes" don't actually provide you any privacy. Anybody can listen in on your conversation, code or no-code. All these codes do is make you think you have a frequency all to your self.
