What is the best DLR discount card...PAP, DVC or Disney VISA?

Should I just ask the cashier/waiter whenever we spend money which gives the best discount? Will charging to the room still work unless the VISA is better?

I would say your PAP is going to give you the most inclusive and extensive discount, I'm not a DVC member but there may be a few things that you get a discount on that a PAP may not (but not as far as merch/food goes). The Disney Visa is not going to give you much except: half off on a stroller rentals, the meet n greet in DCA and the free 5x7 photo print are your Disney Visa perks. You should be able to show a PAP and get the discount and charge back to your room if you want.

I have an extensive chart of this stuff that I was using to plan meals. PAP is mostly best. There are some extras with the Visa and DVC does cover a couple extra things that the PAP/Visa do not. Generally though, most restaurants have a better PAP discount.

he-he - we have those 3 too. We usually put all 3 down and ask which one is better! (too bad we can't combine them!)

Good to know that PAP is usually better but I can lay all the cards on the table if I want to ;). Thanks for the quick replies, everyone!

just starting to plan our trip and interested to hear that there are ways of getting discounts! therefore, can you tell me what your PAP card is and how i can get one? thanks!

It's the Premium Annual Pass. I can't remember the % discount (10-20%?). Most of the sit-down and counter service restaurants and merchandise stores offer the discount. Also at some of the stores/restaurants in Downtown Disney.

So, if you're willing to shell out the $$$$, you can save! We live in NorCal, so we buy a Premium Annual Pass - maybe every other year. If we go on 3 trips within 365 days, it more than pays for itself (as opposed to buying 4-5 day Parkhoppers each time).

I was looking into buying a deluxe AP before the prices went up and were also DVC members. On the disney website is a chart for the % of discounts I compared those to DVC. Both DAP and DVC give 10% discount on dinning at all the resturants. My disney visa will give me the discount on the store but it has to be $50 or more vs the DAP is a min of $10. I choose not to get the AP this time around as the discounts are close enough between my DVC and Disney Chase.
Hope that helps some!

Our friend is letting us use their points for VGC. How do you get the DVC discount? Is it a card that the DVC owner has or is it the room key?

what rest. does the disney visa give you discounts to?

This is what the Disney Visa site says for the restaurant discounts:
Big Thunder Ranch
Rancho Del Zocalo
Hungry Bear
Cucina Cucamonga
Goofy's Kitchen
Steakhouse 55
PCH Grill
Storyteller's Cafe

BUT...last year we received the discount both times we ate at Carnation Cafe and at Wine Country Trattoria. It never hurts to ask when you're eating somewhere, you do have to put the meal on your Visa card to get the discount, you can't just show it.

Can anyone comment on the difference between Premium APs and Premier APs? At WDW I got some CMs who told me I didn't get the highest discount because it wasn't a "Premium" AP, only a "Premier" AP. Is that going to happen to me at DL, too?

Whats DVC and VGC?! lol :confused3

And are you talking about the Disney VISA credit card or debit card (debit is being discontinued in July).

Premium Annual Pass is 15% on most restaurants in park/hotel, 10% most DTD restaurants, and 20% on merchandise.

DVC is Disney Vacation Club.
VGC is the Villas at the Grand Californian Hotel (DVC accommodations)

Premier gets all the benefits of the WDW Premium AP and the DL Premium AP. The CM who told you otherwise was wrong. -- Suzanne

We don't have an AP or DVC membership, but I have a Disney Visa, AAA card and I'll have a Diamond Card this trip as well. I plan on asking about all 3 EVERY time we eat somewhere!
