What is the best "book series" you ever read

Earth's Children series by Jean Auel
Loved Sue Graftons alphabet books, shame she didn't finish.
As a child, Little House series and Madeline L'Ingles Wrinkle in Time series

Yes...I was just going to post Clan of the Cave Bear and subsequent books. Loved those!!!

Outlander
Hunger Games
Twilight
North and South

While not the best series I did enjoy the Queen of the Tearling 3 book series.

I have not read all the Harry Potter books but want to!!

The "In Death" series is my current go to books. I am on I think book 30 (of 52).

I'm so glad to hear people like this one. I love mystery-series books but I go through them so fast and then end up waiting for the next one. I just ordered the first one in this series. I'm excited to have such a long series to keep my busy for a while :)

Some of my favorite:
Harry Potter
Hunger Games
Alex Delaware Series - Jonathan Kellerman
Decker/Lazarus Series - Faye Kellerman
Sookie Stackhouse Series - Charlaine Harris
Alex Cross Series - James Patterson
Women's Murder Club - James Patterson
Memory Man Series - David Baldacci
Jack Stratton Series - Christopher Greyson
Stephanie Plum Series - Janet Evanovich (but I agree with everyone that those have gone downhill)
Slow Burn Series - Bobby Adair
Eve Duncan Series - Iris Johanson
A-Z series - Sue Grafton
Shopaholic Series - Sophie Kinsella

Chronicles of Narnia
Harry Potter
Outlander series
Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith (aka JK Rowlings)
Jack Reacher books by Lee Child
Alex Cross series by James Patterson

ETA: Little House! Can't believe I forgot that one, read them all probably a dozen times.

As an adult, Clan of the Cave Bear series. Everyone at work read them and passed them around. I made the mistake of watching the Outlander series on TV and then tried to read the books, I felt like I’d already read them. However I really enjoyed the series.

As a youth these:

Anne of Green Gables
Betsy, Tacy and Tib series by Maud H. Lovelace

Recently:

The Cormoran Strike novel series by Robert Galbraith (aka J. K. Rowling)

Song of Ice and Fire
Child 44 Trilogy
Ann Rice's Mayfair Witches and the early Vampire Chronicles
Thieve's World

I've read a ton of series and I enjoy many but the one that always stands out in my mind is the Millennium Series - The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
For some reason, I just love Mikael and Lisbeth

I also love the Lucas Davenport, Prey series.

the Little House on the Prairie series for sure! And yes, I very much enjoyed the Twilight series

Harry Potter. I don’t foresee any series ever coming close to meaning more to me than those books.

This! I listen to the full series 4-6 times per year (2 hour commute each way). Chronicles of Narnia as well.

Love the Wizard of Oz books, Mary Poppins (wow -- Disney really messed with that one!), and also the Lilian Jackson Braun "The Cat Who" series. If you like audiobooks, the Jeeves and Wooster series is wonderful as well.

I also like cozy mysteries, but I bore of them after a while (catering, tea shop, yarn shop, etc.). I read every one of the Jessica Fletcher (Murder She Wrote) books when they come out.

ETA: Also love the Brother Cadfael series and Mrs. Pollifax (although she's a bit dated now). Oh, and Flavia de Luce series....and Agatha Raisin.

The Pines series, 3 books, by Blake Crouch. It was made into a TV series too. Hated to see both come to an end.

Also, the “When” series by Janette Oke. Wonderful Christian pioneer series.

I really love series. I like to get invested in characters and follow them for a long time.

Harry Potter is my very favorite.
I love how Stephen King will visit people and places from one book in another book, and The Dark Tower series is one of my favorites.
Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches is one I've reread a few times.
Charlaine Harris has a number of series, and I've read most, if not all of them. They aren't deep, but they are enjoyable.

The Dark Tower by Stephen King. The movie was a joke and only scratched the surface of the whole saga.

I agree that the Dark Tower series got a little weird in the middle. I really didn’t like the Stephen King cameo. The ending was unbelievable though! I didn’t see it coming at all but I don’t think it could have ended any other way. My favourite book in the series was the wolves of Calla (book 5 I believe). Im tempted to reread the whole series but it’s so long lol

Agree on both of these. I actually skipped the movie because I heard enough to know I was going to be disappointed. I felt the same way about the ending.

I feel exactly the same way.

I like to call the alphabet series A-Y. While I understand her request not to have a ghost writer finish the series, I kind of wish her kids would publish an outline or notes that she had written so that we could see what she was thinking about the last book.

Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time - it took me almost 20 years and I could barely bring myself to turn the last page of the last book. :sad1:

This. It's such an amazing series.

They are bringing it to TV, his wife is overseeing production. I'm cautiously optimistic, I hope they find a way to do it justice!

One can only hope that George R.R. Martin has made similar arrangements to finish SOIAF that Robert Jordan did upon his untimely death. We may one day read the end of that series yet! :rotfl2:

My experience with Wheel of Time is one reason I refuse to read Game of Thrones until it is over. I'm so grateful Jordan made arrangements, and Sanderson did a masterful job with a tough task -- but the wait between books at the end was agonizing! I can't go through that again ;p I hope Martin finishes one day though, I'm sure I'd enjoy his series very much.

Put me down for Harry Potter & Game of Thrones.

Definitely recommend the A Court of Thorns & Roses trilogy by Sarah Maas if you enjoy fantasy. Happened to pick it off the library shelf one day and I am soooo glad I did. They are fantastic.

Also, Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake. Two books are out now with another out in September. It's like Hunger Games with more of a fantasy element rather than dystopian.

Young me would also add the Dr. Dolittle books to this list! So cute and fun!

No one has yet mentioned the Aubrey/Maturin series, by Patrick O'Brian.

I listened to all of those books on audio. I cried my eyes out while driving at the end of book 20.

The movie was so disappointing. They took little bits out of all the books without going into depth about any of it. Also, I didn’t agree with the casting of Roland. In my head, Viggo Mortenson would have been PERFECT

A Song of Ice and Fire (GoT)
Lord of the Rings
Kingsbridge Series

Not heard of Wheel of Time before but sounds right up my alley. Thanks for the info. I need some new reading material.
