What is the best "book series" you ever read

Probably Rowling's Harry Potter series, just for her world-building. I've never read a series that I've felt so fully immersed in.

Also, Conn Iggulden's Emperor series...historical fiction about the life and times of Julius Caesar. Amazingly captivating.

Also a fan of:
Steve Berry - Cotton Malone
James Rollins - Sigma
Jack DuBrul - Phillip Mercer
DuBrul / Cussler - Oregon series

As much as I absolutely love the LoTR, I found the books ponderous and fatiguing to read. The storyline is amazing and the film trilogy is my favorite of all-time, but the books were not as enjoyable to me.

I've read the Agent Pendergast series, but the last few have not been as good and the character is going in a strange direction.

"A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin. (Better known as Game of Thrones.) It is so much better than the show. I read it before the show aired. Still waiting patiently for the next book.

I read Fear Nothing and Seize the Night by Dean Koontz in high school, but the third book hasn't come out yet and I'm not optimistic. I've been waiting since 2003, so... That's even longer between books than GRRM takes.

The Hunger Games series was good.

I think my favorite YA dystopian fiction series was the Uglies trilogy by Scott Westerfeld.

Most of what I read isn't part of a series, though.

James Herriot series for sure, Outlander by Diana Gabaldon..(I only read the first 4 I think but they were great!), Mitford Series by Jan Karon, and The many live and secret sorrows of Josphine B series by Sandra Gulland...SOOOO Good!!!

Harry Potter for me. I didn’t expect to like them and was only reading them because middle DD wanted me to read them to her, but they were fantastic. A close second goes to the Little House series.

I agree with the poster upthread who mentioned Hunger Games and Divergent and the 3rd book. I had trouble getting through both 3rd books after loving 1 and 2.

As a kid I loved the Trixie Belden books as well as Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. I was an avid reader as a kid and becoming one again is my goal for retirement/empty nest.

Vampire Academy series (unfortunately the movie..did not do the series any justice IMO) by Richelle Mead

Covenant series by Jennifer Armentrout

Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs (though I'm only on book 6 of 18 total books if you include novellas in the series)

Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill (though I'm only on book 8 of total books 18 if you include novellas in the series)

I have not actually read HP other than the first one I read in school. I do however absolutely love the movies. Hunger Games I have read as well and they are very good as well.

Women's Murder Club
Alex Cross
Michael Bennett
all by James Patterson

JA Jance's JP Beaumount, Ali Reynolds and Joanna Brady series

Harry Potter
As a child all the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books

I really think the only series I ever really loved were the Nancy Drew books when I was growing up, too.

Next, even though not a series but pretty much the same genre were all the books by Ann Rule. Loved her writing style.

Sookie Stackhouse Series. After book 8 though it went downhill though.

My teen years: Sweet Valley High, Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys.

Cant believe no mentioned "The Giver" it's a series of 4 and really good. Also Hunger Games, my daughter is reading the Uglies series right now and loving it. In my younger days, Trixie Belden gets another vote!

Earth's Children series by Jean Auel
Loved Sue Graftons alphabet books, shame she didn't finish.
As a child, Little House series and Madeline L'Ingles Wrinkle in Time series

I don't read a lot of book series, but my favorites are Harry Potter, Hunger Games, and The Dresden Files. I've only read the first book in the Divergent series so far.

When I was a kid, it was The Black Stallion series. I still have them all.

As a teen, I loved Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles

In my 20's, I adored the Outlander series.

As an adult, I love the Harry Potter books.
