What is the benefit?

to purchasing add on points the month before your use year comes up. I am interested in purchasing 50 more BCV points but I don't see any advantage purchasing them this month since my use year is April.

I would appreciate your opinions.

If you buy now, you will get the use of those points this year, you don't have to wait until next April. You will have to pay the dues for the balance of 2003. You will then get 50 points for the 2004 use year on April1st 2004. If you wait 2,3,4 month or more, you would still get the 2003 point, if they still have your use year for sale.

We did a 25 pt HH add-on last year. It was the same situation, the month before our use year began.

If you buy in March, you will get the 2002 50pts, but you will likely have to use them by March 31st, or lose them. Then you will get another 50 pts on April 1st. This would work out well for you if you wanted to plan a trip (only to a DVC resort, you can't do any trade outs) before the end of the month. I doubt you will be able to bank the 50 pts from your 2002 use year to your 2003 use year, but it's worth asking (we were unable to do this). You will have to pay prorated dues on the points for the last couple of weeks in your 2002 use year. You could also try renting them, but you will have to price them low maybe $7. Also, since you would be using the points before you actually "owned" them, DVC will send you a form saying that you will reimbuse them the cash rate for any accomodations you book with those points in case you decide to back out of the add-on.

We used our add-on points for a last minute OKW reservation for relatives.

This is a good excuse to plan a quickie trip. Good Luck...Johnnie

I decided mid 1999 to buy at BWV, I wanted a May use year since we usually go in May & December. When I found out there wasn't a May use year, I decided to go for April. I waited until September to buy since that was the last month you could still use magical beginnings for April. If I would have bought earlier, I would have had to start paying dues I didn't plan to make my first reservation until October. Just check with your guide to make sure April does not sellout.

2002 points will be of no use for me at this time. My wife is in late pregnancy and we will not be able to go there this month. Therefore unless they let me bank them then there is no reason to purchase them now and pay dues for 2002 use year that I never got.
