it located in japan at world showcase and its a oyster tank and you pick which one you want and it has a pearl in it the range in color and size and the ladies do a few second ceremony and you can have them set into jewelry pieces.. or just take it with you... range from 15-20 each time you do it ....

There is also a location at DTD. We did it 4 times last year and had 2 very similar pearls set into earrings for my dd, and brought the othe 2 home. I did it in Gatlinburg in 1996 and got an 8mm blue pearl that has since been appraised at $880. It is set in a nice pendant.

MY DS6 had fun picking out the oyster. It was $17.99 plus tax in the Japan pavillion at Epcot. I got one with twin pearls and DH and the boys had them set into earrings for me. I have them on right now!

We did it our last trip for a present for our 15 yr old. We paid $12 for a shell ticket. The CM makes big ceremony out of the pearl selection and the opening of the shell. The guest before me picked a shell with two pearls in it. Most of the pearls while we observed came out at 6.5 to 7.5 mm in size. We had ours put in a pendant for another $15. We did not buy a chain because she had one here it would look nice on. But they do sell them. The CM involves all the guests in each individual opening and has them cheering for a good pearl and lets them admire your "find".

At sea world I remember them doing a similar thing but the oysters were in a deep pool and they dove down for them.

This was in the now closed one in Cleveland do they still do this anywhere else.

Yes, in Orlando Sea World they dive down to get them also.

It's a lot of fun. My wife did it the year before we got married. She picked out three beautiful rose-colored pearls. She turned them into earrings and a pendant which she used as her wedding jewelery! We've been back many times since, and it is still her favorite thing to do in all of Disney World
