Lots of aggressive vendors, more than in any other port I've visited. High crime rate. Typically on State Department list of travel advisories. No excursions of interest.

But then we would have to give up Castaway & Lookout too! The leases for the private islands require a certain number of ships calls to Nassau per year.

If you eliminated every island that is on the state department list of travel advisories there would be a whole lot less cruises!!

That was a big part of the Lookout Cay contract. Disney has substantial contractual and monetary obligations with The Bahamas.

I agree. The port area at Nassau is really lovely. They really did so much to improve it.

Level 2 (which is what the Bahamas is at) isn't as uncommon throughout the world as one would think. That said travel advisories are usually for the whole country with then specific information for certain areas. While I don't necessarily agree with either you nor the other poster I do believe they have valid thoughts regarding Nassau. It's used far too much for the cruising industry for it to be removed unless you got into a Haiti-like situation. But it is something that someone on a cruise should pay attention to. Of note especially is jet ski and boating as well as sexual assaults.

This conversation could play out in countless other locations but is speaking to just Nassau as that was the point of the conversation.

Level 3 and obviously Level 4 mean a lot different than Level 1 or Level 2 so it's not just travel advisories as a whole. FWIW in Europe many travel advisories are related to terrorism though pick pocketing is also mentioned quite a lot.

And lastly just because a cruise ship goes to a specific port it does not mean it should go to that particular port (this is general not specific to just the conversation).

There really are not better options- hence why there are so many stops at Nassau, not just by Disney but basically ALL the cruise lines!

Nassau is the busiest cruise port stop in the world for a reason- location, location, location! (Cozumel is the 2nd busiest and its over a million passengers less annually than Nassau)

IMO: Bring back the turkey legs at Cabanas after the Pirate show and firework. It would be even better if they served the original turkey legs like the ones at the parks, rather than the steamed version they switched to later.

A French patisserie that offers fresh paninis/pastries/croque monsieur and sweet French cafe music.
Sailed 4 ships and have yet to find a dessert worth repeating- and a nice hot fresh sandwich hits the spot on busy days.

You have to use an app. Navigators are long gone unfortunately.

You can ask at Guest Services daily and they will give you one. For a while they had a stack out on the desk you could grab but now they go out back and print you one. We usually stop by on our way back from the lounge area at night and ask for 1 then. There's no line around midnight!

Guest Services will give you a printed schedule yes, but it’s not like the old Navigators. Still helpful if you don’t want to stare at your phone though.
