Just curious why?Eliminate Nassau from all itineraries.

Lots of aggressive vendors, more than in any other port I've visited. High crime rate. Typically on State Department list of travel advisories. No excursions of interest.Just curious why?

That was a big part of the Lookout Cay contract. Disney has substantial contractual and monetary obligations with The Bahamas. But then we would have to give up Castaway & Lookout too! The leases for the private islands require a certain number of ships calls to Nassau per year.
I agree. The port area at Nassau is really lovely. They really did so much to improve it.I think a lot of times Nassau gets a lot more hate than it deserves. It's not my favorite port but it's not as bad as people make it out to be.
But that's the best time to book Palo brunch!Eliminate Nassau from all itineraries.
Level 2 (which is what the Bahamas is at) isn't as uncommon throughout the world as one would think. That said travel advisories are usually for the whole country with then specific information for certain areas. While I don't necessarily agree with either you nor the other poster I do believe they have valid thoughts regarding Nassau. It's used far too much for the cruising industry for it to be removed unless you got into a Haiti-like situation. But it is something that someone on a cruise should pay attention to. Of note especially is jet ski and boating as well as sexual assaults. If you eliminated every island that is on the state department list of travel advisories there would be a whole lot less cruises!!
If DCL stops going to Nassau on 3 and 4 night cruises, where else could they go? They clearly want to stop at Castaway Cay, Lookout Cay, or both. Many years ago some 4 night cruises stopped at Freeport, but that was even less popular than Nassau. There aren’t a lot of other ports in the immediate area that can take big ships and are significantly different/safer from Nassau. So eliminating Nassau would probably mean adding a sea day.
People who don’t want to debark in Nassau can treat the day as a sea day anyhow. The main difference from a “true” sea day is that shops are closed, but if you really need to buy something during the day, you can buy it on shore.
