Ok, i thought this would be a fun thread for those of us rich and poor that vacation in style -no matter how we do it that is when we go to disney. So what is the most expensive overpriced item you have purchased that you would have never purchased at home. Not just at disney but any vacation spot. For me, i was the Mc Donalds fries for like 3 bucks or more-lol and a top and bottom suit at universal for 75 bucks because it had their name on it, it was cute, vacation, and i had something showing i was there, i was out of money when i hit seaworld.

$50 for a hooded sweatshirt from DW - I never buy anything full price especially not a cheap hooded sweatshirt! Vacation makes you do crazy things I guess!!!!

OK, for me it was about $130 for a stuffed animal. Granted it was a Steiff (which I used to collect until I realized I needed a less $$ thing to collect) and I got the CP 15% discount (thank goodness, it would have been even more!).

DH had to have a marble & bronze manatee sculpture from IOA. He would probably have spent as much at home but I probably wouldn't have been so willing for him to spend that much except that we were on vacation.

For me it was my Tigger coat. Who knew they'd sell a winter coat in FL already on clearance in early December. I didn't need a winter coat but I couldn't pass it up.

The big peanut butter cup that goes for like $3. Bought that more times than I would like to admit. I set back and think "how many Reeses could I have bought..."

This is great, the sad thing is i saw some things i could not get n this trip so i know to save up to overspend for them on the next one, ow crazy is that

I bought the Partners Statue clock, I don't remember how much it was, but over $100. And I never pay full price for anything at home, let alone $100 for a clock! But it's on top of my tv and everything I see it I get that warm fuzzy Disney feeling. So, I guess it was worth it!

The Minnie Mouse dress for my daughter with the ears and bracelet and necklace for close to $100. Justified it by swearing she'd wear it for Halloween (never did). She did love it why we were there though!

I think the $17 for that "spray fan" is pretty silly, but when it's hot in August I guess it's neccassary. Ok, how about this...a brick with all of our names on it, that we don't even get to take home for $99. The silly thing is everytime we go we have to visit the "brick"!! I always feel like that brick will someday be my headstone. Heck when visiting it, it's kind of like visiting a family grave...I swear everybody kind of whispers gathered around that stone. Plus you would think for $99 we wouldn't have to go clean it off every time we go. That should be included. Oh well, it does have a great view of the seven seas lagoon.

I purchased a marcasite Mickey Watch at WOD for $125. I would never buy this at home.

Oh and $2.50 for an Ice Cream Novelty, when I can get a whole box of 36 at Sams CLub for $10! They're not shaped like Mickey though!

We have a brick too to commemorate our anniversary since we honeymooned at WDW but I don't think it's a waste at all as we visit it on most trips and sometimes take a bottle of champagne and have a private celebration by the water.

It has a huge, beautifully embroidered patch on the front that says Walt Disney World with a big smiling Mickey in the middle.

I love it & it makes me smile every time I wear it but I would never pay 60 bucks for a sweatshirt at home.

70 Dollar on 2 fleece Disney Blankets That cost 12 dollars any where else..., one day when we went and forgot the kids coats in the room..

For me- pretty much everything we eat or purchase at WDW.

We live pretty frugally at home. I'm notorious for scoffing at 50% off sales, I don't shop until Target has 75% off and Dillards has the day that is an additional 25% off the stuff that is already 75% off. I bought DD's swimsuits for this coming summer when Limited Too marked them down to 4.99 and 6.99 in September.

When we go on vacation all that frugality goes out the window. If we want something we buy it!

I guess that's why the day to day frugality is good - we can afford the yearly vacation splurge.

I have one of the pink heavy windbreakers that says Princess Walt Disney World on it. I think it was around $70 or so. Bought it the day we were named Family of the Day at Studios during the 100 year celebration.

Definitely not something I would have bought had I not been in the middle of the magic. However, I wear that jacket a LOT. Yes, I am *almost* 35, a manager in a prominant company in our area, and I wear that jacket to work whenever weather allows. People kind of look at me sometimes, but those same people come to me when they or their family members are wanting to go to WDW and need some planning help!

Also a $50 sweatshirt. It was chilly, and misty and I did *want* a shirt from DW. Otherwise - those $14 light-up things in Epcot. But at least my kids still love and play with them.

$6 for a bag of chocolate covered Mickey pretzels. I needed a chocolate fix, and I knew that I couldn't share a candy bar with DH, DS6, and DS4, so I got the "what the heck, I'm on vacation! attitude, and bought them. I don't even think it was a pound in the bag. They were enjoyed by all, but I still wince at the thought.

We paid about 45 dollars for an XLarge ESPN Zone (at the Boardwalk) sweatshirt. But wait, it was practical-our two daughters, 4 & 5, were freezing, and one XL sweatshirt fits two small kids at the same time.

Unless they both wanted to stick their heads out of the head-hole at the same time, then we had a problem!
