What is??????-most expensive/never would buy

I purchased a pair of terry cloth shorts at Atlantis in the Bahamas for $75:eek: because I needed a new pair and we were several miles from our resort

I didn't even like them :guilty:

DH bought a shirt for me on our honeymoon at DD (was Disney Marketplace then - '92) $76 for shirt and vest, dry clean only so did not wear often. Had to buy it for me, had $ to burn I guess.

Got a lot of use out of it the summer I was pregnant, it looked great with black leggings and a tummy, and by them I had said to heck with dry cleaning and was washing it and hanging to dry.

Thought it was a ton of money at the time (and it still is) but I did get a lot of mileage (over many years) out of it.

Two $250 Dale of Norway sweaters from the Norway Pavilion. We'd had a couple of cocktails and it seemed like a good idea...

$11,000 for DVC points. We would have never even considered a timeshare before we found out about DVC. On our first trip, we bought before we left. Course, we added on four more times for about another $20,000. But those were on other trips.

Oh, that doesn't even count!!! I'd buy those points again and again and again....maybe that's why I need SERIOUS help!!! :teeth:

1. Bought 3 boxes of the Mickey-shaped dry macaroni and cheese mix at $3 a pop.
Ouch! The regular Kraft Mac n Cheese we get at home is so much tastier and only
about 75 cents a box. But boy was it fun to eat MickeyRoni and Cheese at home
when we were feeling lonely for WDW the week after our trip!

2. $12 for two pairs of Minnie/Mickey socks for me when I very unwisely wore uncomfortable sandals to Epcot and needed socks to protect my poor feet! I do love wearing those socks, though!

For the kids pins, pins, pins--I have a reasonable collection myself--for what I do not know! :rotfl2:
DS splurged on the Indiana Jones Hat $75.00 of my $$ to look :cool1: though he doesn't wear it anymore :confused3 (you'd think that would make him quite the chick magnet at school ;) )
DH bought a Walt and Mickey watch during th e 100 years celebration.

DD and I are a bit more practical--we just keep telling DH to get us more DVC points whenever he asks if we want something!

P.S. Did I mention we are a "pin trading" family....talk about money spent!!!! :scared1:

This is mine, bags and bags of pins. So much money. DD and I did pin trading together, went to the pin trading nights at hotels and everything. We took a backpack of pins on our last cruise, and they didn't even make it out of the cabin. DD was in the teen club almost every waking hour. I guess I know where that leaves me and pin trading! I need to make some lots and sell them on Ebay, probably for about half of what I paid.

I can't wait to find out what we wouldn't normally buy but will in disney lol. question how in the world did you get some of this home? we are flying and are very limited to only 1 suitcase full of souveniers
Becky, Paige and Hailey!

leaving tomorrow!

4 pairs of sunglasses. Of course, sunglasses are a MUST in FL, but mine kept breaking. I don't know why, but I just kept buying pair after pair. The 4th pair broke too (the noseguards came off), but I kept them because I just couldn't bring myself to buy a 5th pair.

$40 for 2 hats at Downtown Disney California 'cause it was 24 degrees that night! Why didn't I expect cold weather in LA?! :guilty:

We ship our stuff home directly from the stores.

a $5 banana at the hotel. On our honeymoon, we were headed out to the parks, and my wife needed something to raise her blood sugar, and the only thing handy was a fruit cart . We still joke about the $5 banana when we consider buying rediculously expensive stuff.

I actually pack an empty suitcase on on the way down. It is used for souveniers on the way back.

For me it would be the $100 snowglobe - I think it was the 100 years celebration one with all the characters and some rides on it.

All the others are totally justified and I would buy them at home - yes, I will just continue to tell myself that.

We also take "2" expandable duffle bags. They fold up really tiny in your suitcase, and then you have them for the trip home. We actually bought them at the Walmart close to WDW on our last trip...we were just a little "too" indulgent with DD's souveniers.

Anyway, we try really hard not to check bags on the way to WDW, but we always end up checking them on the way home!!! Thank goodness for DVC...with washers and dryers, we only bring 3-4 outfits and put on a load of laundry before we leave in the morning!! It makes packing MUCH easier!!!

This thread has been interesting and enlightening! I don't feel quite so bad about some of our expenditures...which include:

$35 for the Mickey light up sorcerer's hat for DS, his choice (thankfully DD's choice was only half the price! :p )

$20 for a baseball style cap for DH, which was stolen in Fantasyland (it was a fantasy for us to think it would be safe on top of the stroller while we rode It's a Small World  )

$20 for a replacement cap for DH (it had to be the exact same hat, mind you, and we spent a long time hunting another one down)...BTW, DH doesn't like hats and only wears them in WDW.

$12 light up twirly toys for both kids...and DH! And DH has since replaced his first twirly toy with a second, bought at the Disney Store here! I guess I get the "discarded" twirly toy for myself.

$10 for a light up Figment pendant for DD...and DH (he insisted)! Make that $20... :rolleyes1

At least we don't have a brick... :rotfl2: Wait...we could have bought one if we hadn't spent it on hats and light up toys!! :)

My DH pressured me into buying $250 sunglasses. Told me that I needed polarized, good quality sun glasses. Told me the reason my eyes were hurting me is because I buy cheap sunglasses on sale at Macys for $12! Didn't my DD (who was 23 mos at the time) pull them out of my bag and chew on the sides of them while we were doing the baby swap for Tower of Terror. I took our boys on the ride and DH was too busy getting himself a snack to notice! I was bugged about the the $250, but I still wear them, little teeth marks and all!

An $8 drink at the Victoria Falls bar at AKL ... something with Midori in it ... which I hate ... but for some reason I thought at WDW I'd like it? :earboy2:

Speaking of bricks.....mine is a BIG waste of money. I bought it on my honeymoon with my now ex-husband! Now that I remarried, I have a brick that I can't even visit because, well how inappropriate would that be!

I do know that for a nominal fee I can have my brick dug up and the words changed on it, but then I'm sinking even more money into the brick!

I had the same problem! Bought my original brick on honeymoon 1994 with ex. BUT, I had it replaced in 1999 just before my Disney fairytale wedding to DH in 1999. It's actually kind of nice since ours in right in front of guest relations at MK and since it is newer than the others, it stands out!

Not Disney, but when we took DD to Sesame Place, we bought her this overpriced Elmo balloon. It was $6. No, that's not that awful you say???

Well the next morning as we were leaving, I jumped out of the car to grab something in the back and Elmo floated up to heaven. (Ahh, you've got to tie those down you say??? We did. He came off up at the part where you'd inflate Elmo.)

My dd saw him floating up, up and away. She cried like I've never heard her cry before. It broke our hearts. My dh drove back to Sesame and they weren't open yet. I begged at the ticket booth and they got me another balloon.

I actually think they might've just given it to me, but I already had my $6 out so I handed it over. The right thing to do, but really we paid $12 for an Elmo balloon!

BUT, there wasn't any crying for the 4 hour trip home!
