What is magical express cut off date?

We are checking in WDW on May 8th. How long do we have to book plane tickets and DME?

I am just waiting to see if prices will come down at all...I didn't know if it was 60 days before you can no longer receive ME transport?

I am not sure, but if you are worried about it, make your best guess now and call to change the flight information later.

I have booked airfare the day of arrival (I worked for the airlines, so it was a "free" last minute trip) and used DME. I have called and set up a time when I knew it, ive also just shown up at the DME counter with a room reservation and set it up right there.

You can actually make DME reservations the day before you travel. BUT...you obviously won't get your packet with vouchers and luggage tags. You need to book at least 10 days prior to travel in order to get that packet. If you don't get the packet, you will have to stop at the DME checkin counter and get vouchers printed up for your bus ride. And you will have to either go to baggage claim yourself and get your own bags and bring them to the DME bus with you, or you can wait until you get to the checkin counter and give the DME people your baggage claim receipts and a description of your bags and they will send someone to get your bags and deliver them to your resort.

I would seriously consider booking DME now. That way, you'll get your packet. You can give them the actual info later on, when you've booked flights.,

This, just tell DME you don't have flight information yet. DME does not need flight information for booking.

We booked a spur of the moment trip once and did this. We did pick up our own bags, but we were able to get on the bus no problem. And this was all on top of a 6 hour plane delay - no problems at all.

Magical Express is "not supposed" to transport you to your resort if you just walk up to the welcoming counter with no reservation.

Meanwhile it is common to set up the DME trip back to the airport when you first arrive at the welcoming area.
