Manhattanman-
can you tell me if it's possible to connect an unlocked phone to a new computer?

FOr instance, i have an old iphone that i unlocked and gave to my cousin. She got a new sim for her carrier and plans to connect it to her computer. I wiped it clean before i gave it to her but i am not sure how difficult it will be to set up.

It should not be a problem, she should be able to install iTunes on the new computer and the first time it is connected she should be able to set up a new account. I think that there is a way to restore an iPhone to the original settings ( deleting all the apps/photos/music) from iTunes but as I don't have an iPhone I have never done it.

I don't think it would be too hard to do.

can u answer a question for me...

i have a verizon iphone - my contract is up in February. Can i then go to another "pay as u go" type company and still use my iphone and not have to unlock or do anything to it?

If it is an iPhone 5 from Verizon ( I think it unlikely because you would still be under contract) they are unlocked and can work on at&t's network but not t mobiles.

If it is an iPhone 4 you may be out of luck. I have no experience with Verizon, but read that they will unlock phones upon request but only for use on foreign networks. You can get a better explanation than I can give here

Yes, i have the iphone 4 - when they first came out on Verizon - so i guess if i leave verizon i will have to get a new smart phone :(

Yeah it stinks. I have never used Verizon but if you go prepay with a smartphone I still think it is like 80 dollars a month. I think the prepay services are predominantly for calls and texts, continual data usage on prepay can get really expensive.

Im pretty sure that when I upgrade I'm my phone it will be carrier free ( like the nexus 4) but by the time I get around to it, it will likely be the nexus14. I'm still on symbian (please hold your laughter).
