What Is It That WDW Has Which Makes Us Always Go Back?

I've always wondered . . .I cannot imagine ever going on vacation without going to WDW . . .do I live a sheltered life or what? I just don't understand why it holds so much magic and when I leave I am already planning when I'll go back . . .

I'm a full fledged dis-a-holic . . .Friends and family think I'm out of my mind . . .

Hmmm I think its the castle at twighlight . . .maybe I've been hypnotized!  ;) ;)

;) I understand exactly how you feel. I have gone several times as a child with my family:) But only once with my husband and DS at the time. We are now planning our 1st family trip (DH, DS, DD, DD and myself) for June 13th and I am already thinking about perhaps going back at the end of the year if possible. My DH thinks I am nuts. His attitude is, been there, done that, and don't need to go back. Sometimes I just don't understand him:rolleyes:

While it is one of our favorite places to visit, and we go to WDW every year - there are so many beautiful, exciting, exotic places to visit in this country/world that I could never limit myself to just a theme park every vacation. I have been to WDW 40+ times, but I do think you miss out on a world on adventure, culture, total relaxation and beauty if you limit all of your vacations to just WDW, IMHO. While WDW is fun, it is not relaxing. I do love planning and taking vacations, but they are not all to WDW.

If you think the castle at twilight is beautiful (which it is), I could tell you about some places that will really make your jaw drop!

I have no idea but whatever it is I hope it never ever goes away. I too am totally and completley obsessed with it. I watch the Resort TV Channel tape I made, listen to any of the CD's, constantly am reading these boards, listening to the 2 Live 365 channels when online, I am reading the Unofficial Guide and it just all makes me happy:D :D

For me it's the fantasy. Everything is perfect (usually ;) and nice in a Disney park. I go again and again and again to escape the realities of everyday life. We do vacation other places (*gasp*), but also go to WDW at least twice a year. We have gone so often it is now a comfortable fantasy :).

Simply put, the magic!

Fort Wilderness! Everything else is gravy!!

There are many places on our "to go" list including Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, London, Maui and a cruise to Caribbean (we're doing the cruise for our 10th anniversary in November - Disney cruise of course ;) ). I don't know what it is about Disney ("pixie dust", that "magical" feel or feeling like a kid again) but whenever I start to plan another trip I find myself thinking of how much fun we had on our previous Disney trip and I want to go back - bad. I even convinced DH to purchase DVC so now I know I can go back to Disney over and over again!

I do want to visit other places but nothing gives me the thrill of a Disney trip. And it's not just about the parks either, there is just so much to do from mini-golf to horseback riding, great restaurants, beautiful themed resorts and exciting nightlife. I just can't seem to get enough. If loving Disney is wrong, then I don't want to be right! They don't call it the happiest place on earth for nothin'.

it's perfect for a family because there is something for everyone. Now, if I could only convince my DB of that because he likes grown-up thrill rides & thinks Disney is just "kid stuff". To me....the look on my children's face when they meet a character or ride a ride featuring his favorite Disney movie is priceless.:teeth:

We love Disney and will continue to go again and again. We also like to see and do other things. There is just so much to do at Disney it is hard to do it all. We don't do commando, we take time to smell the roses! True that we do old favorites like the HM every trip, but we also see some new things every time. One summer, I read Tom Sawyer to my kids before we went, and we spent a lot of time on Tom Sawyer island exploring when we did the MK!!! We enjoyed all of the millenium things when they were at EPCOT. Last summer we enjoyed all of the 100 year things at MGM. "One Man's Dream" was awesome, and we also did the animation tour for the first time. My four kids loved it! I know a lot of people who go to Disney once and then think they are done. When I ask the "Did you see Famtasmic?" or "How did you like Muppet Vision 3D?" they usually realize that they missed quite a bit! Now my DD5 is chomping at the bit to ride Tricerotop Spin. We did not go to AK on our last trip, but definitely will next time down!!! The magic lives on! Lacee

"Magic" for us!! I go back cause it's the most happiest place in the world!! Happy is good! :teeth:

MAGIC!

There is so much to do in one place. It is clean. The weather. The restaurants. It is a quick plane ride form MH/NH. There are so many reasons!

We will be moving to Orlando next spring. Most likely Celebration! That way we can visit WDW a lot and have time for all the other trips we take. Plus we will be close to 3 cruise ports!

I agree that there are a lot of other places that are wonderful to travel to. We go back to Playa del Carmen, Mexico in October for our 3rd visit. There is so much to do there too. We are visiting the ruins in Coba, Xcaret nature park and Cozumel this time.

I'm not sure what DH's reasons are for loving WDW, but I know mine stem from a love of the history of the Walt Disney Company. I read everything I can find about it, and there's something so fascinating about it's originality. Yes, there are other theme parks that claim to outdo Disney, but when all the cards are laid on the table and comparisons are made - Disney will ALWAYS win. Everything from detailed architecture to the way in which employees are trained is unique - and that all goes back to the genius that was Walt Disney. There will never be another one like him.

I can list a lot of reasons:
  • It's clean. Even at it's worst, it is still cleaner than most parks.
  • It's friendly. Everyone is there for the same reasons: to have fun.
  • I can be a kid again. Where else can I wear Mickey ears?
  • It's never the same place two visits in a row. Different resort, different time of year, different parades and attractions.
  • Customer service with a smile. They go above and beyond to make sure that your stay is exceptional.
  • I still haven't seen it all. After 8 visits, I still cannot truly say "Been there, done that."
