what is happening to CCV?

Really, it sounds like DVC may not have been the best decision for your family. It happens. The good news is, you should be able to easily sell your contracts, or rent the points out, and go back to the regularly available hotel rooms if that is a better option for you and your family. DVC isn't right for everyone, no timeshare is. DVC fits well in my normal travel patterns, I often stay solo in a one bedroom. If it did not meet my needs, I would look to sell or rent my points. This year, given DVC's flexibility, and the extra points from not going in 2020, I am getting a Grand Villa AND a Two Bedroom for an 11 person trip over Thanksgiving.

We bought into DVC for the flexibility. It can still work for us but we just need to add points for a two bedroom. It will just be a much more luxurious stay. Nothing wrong with that of course. Just that it is probably bigger than what we need. A one bedroom would be fine for us in a different resort maybe. We can make it work.

That said, if we sell it would have less to do with the studio issue (which can be remedied by more points) and more to do with the things Disney continues to strip away from the guest experience. (See recent reports of ME going away, but the list is getting bigger). Not going to open a can of worms here for the Disney apologists but trust me when I say there are MUCH bigger reasons to sell a contract. When Disney starts to feel like a regular amusement park, that’s when we’ll sell.

I'm not sure how this would work. If memory serves the walls behind both the couch and the love seat in OKW have windows, don't they?

Ya wrong on OKW couldn't remember. As far as adding them in the far off future they could rearrange the room likely? Haven't stayed in OKW so not sure.

Im wondering if it will be something to consider for future projects. Seems like it would be easy enough to arrange rooms this way if they wanted to add a 2nd bed. It will depend on whether it is advantageous for them to do so.

The room capacity is not the same as recommended room occupation.

Also they are bringing the pull down Murphy beds as well with RIV, SSR, and I think OKW. Those should bring in the option for better comfort while keep the layouts practical. Example I wouldn't want 2 beds in a 1br because it would never be more than just me+dw in that room except when we had the baby/toddler in there (which won't occur once they are not a baby/toddler).

I am fine with pull downs but taking up a bunch of room in a 1BR for another bed that would always go unused is wasteful in my mind. These new pull downs are a good option though, put a sofa in the 1BR as a seating area, and put a bed there.
The cabins do this in the second bedroom, and it's a great idea for the master bedrooms! Allows for the flexibility if desired, but doesn't take up a ton of space if not.

I missed that earlier comment but that really is a great idea!!

They might need to reconfigure the island separating the kitchen from the sitting area. The way it is set up now angles the TV towards that corner.
That would be an expensive reconfiguration for OKW, considering the island houses power outlets, TV and (I think) internet cables/router. And then consider the island matches the angle of the kitchen counters, and not just angled for the purposes of TV viewing. There would be so little gained for the expense, it really isn't worth the trouble. If they want to reconfigure the rooms, they should wait until the contracts expire, then do it during a major rebuild/refurbishment before selling it as a "new" DVC resort.

I think this is spot on. We are those people! We have enough points for a couple studio trips each year. This year because of a couple of cancellations in 2020, we decided on using our points as a trial run on 1 and a 2 bedroom to evaluate if the bigger room sizes will make sense for us as our kids grow. If the trial goes as I suspect, it's going to result in an add on contract for us.
DVC likes your plan too ;)
