From the Disney press release:
Disney Springs is an exciting new shopping and dining destination that we created in response to the number one survey takeaway we get from our guests: 'Can you please find ways to get me to spend more money?' A destination unlike any other, 'the Springs' has unique ways for guests to interact with Disney merchandise, food, beverage, and experiences.
Q: Is Disney Springs another name for Downtown Disney?
A: No. Downtown Disney was a sad, wheezing, exhausted excuse for an outdoor mall, with tired and dated stores and restaurants. Disney Springs represents the great big beautiful tomorrow of non park-related experiences.
Q: But didn't most of the stuff stay the same?
A: (Laughs) No! The
Lego Store, for example, used to be "The Lego Store at Downtown Disney." It is now, "Disney Springs' Lego Store." See?
Q: How is the parking situation?
A: Disney transportation is available from many locations on property.
Q: I'm searching for unique experiences that I can't find at home, like bowling, going to the movies, or having some Starbucks. Things like that.
A: You'll find that all in 'the Springs!'
Q: Is this where Pleasure Island used to be?
A: I'm sorry, what now? I don't recognize this term.
