What is "Disney Magic"?

For me it is the pure joy that radiates from my kids as we all walk down Main Street. Also I love that me, dh and both kids turn into this group of people who are all the same age, we have so much fun. It's great to leave real life behind for a week and just enjoy being with each other.

For me, the magic is more of a literal thing as opposed to a feeling, but it's none less amazing. When Halloween is over, Disney turns into a Christmas wonderland overnite -- magically. The way the castle seems huge is an optical illusion made by Disney magic. The holograms in the Haunted Mansion were made by magic (cause in the 70s, what else could we imagine it would be?).

Other things done by Disney magic: the way the lines just keep moving; how the garbage cans are never emptied but never fill up; monorails (before they were common); light parades that appear and disappear; how you never see workers walk to and from their jobs -- they just appear; how everyone is treated equally and gets an amazing vacation no matter how much they spent.

Disney Magic is all the things you have ever read or seen on TV and in Movies in a real place.

I grew up in Florida watching the Wonderful Word of Disney and the Mickey Mouse Club on TV and through the years remember all the milestones and expansions that Disney Imagineering has put into place.

When you stay on property there is a sence of fantasy and "Magic" as the CM's try to make your stay as awesome and enjoyable as can be.
The subtle music, to noises and sights and sounds of the parks and all places in between. The special treats that Mouse-keeping leaves behind.
The way Disney was designed to hide all the hustle and bustle of running a park so that only the fun and excitement is visible.

The Magic is that feeling you get when you step off the Monorail or hear the warm greeting of the CM at the Welcome Desk at your resort.
When they hand you your Keys to the World and tell you it gets you into all the parks and your hotel and it is your card for Dinner. (Park hopper and Dining plan required:lmao:)

There is no ending definition to the Disney Magic, all you have to do is Believe and Seeing is Believing!!!

M-I-C...See ya real soon.
K-E-Y...Why? Because we like you.
M-O-U-S-Eeeeeee.

This is a hard question to answer in words. It is more easily answered by the smiles on the faces of kids and adults as they are in the world of Disney. The magic is just being in an environment where you can just relax and take in your surroundings. To be able to just walk around and see enjoyment on the faces of everyone. The magic is the memories you take home and will last a lifetime. The magic is walking in to a place that takes you away and makes you feel like you are in a special place, a happy place. The magic is the smells ,the sounds and the views of something Walt dreamed of.
Well I dont know if this helped but I am sure some of my fellow Dis Dads will be along shortly to explain the magic. Some of them are alot better in explaing things then me:thumbsup2

I really don't have the words...but they say a picture is worth a 1000 of them...and the smiles on these faces...spells M-A-G-I-C.

Disney magic is arriving at the CBR at 3 in the morning after just getting married the day before and the CM is so wide awake and bubbly that it just makes you feel good. Also, on the same trip, realizing that my new wedding band doesn't fit just right and the CM's on main street scurrying around to find some tape for my ring just to make it fit. (17 wonderful years ago)

Disney magic is riding Small World and seeing the same expresion of joy each time in my daughters eyes even after the 5th time.

While I do agree the magic is in every song you see, every cast member you meet, it's in so many of the guests too! People who go to Disney spread that Disney magic.

We were on a bus late at night and my 18 month old was done. She was tired and ready for bed. There were no seats left, I was holding her stroller, but the baby just wanted me to hold her or get her into bed. This lovely family offered to hold my stroller for me so I could pick up my daughter. She also offered to have her sons stand up so my boys could have a seat. Her kindness put me at ease with my very unhappy child. Once we got back to the hotel, her family helped my boys off, carried our stroller off and got it set up. Pure magic!

Disney magic also makes you want to make magic for other guests too!
I always bring Dollar Store glow necklaces with me to Disney for my kids to wear. As we were waiting for a parade, I pulled out our glow stuff for my kids. Knowing I had more than enough, I offered them to the families sitting around us. The parents and the kids were tickled. In fact, one family thanked me one last time as we were walking out of the park two hours later.

On our checkout day, I realized that I had two extra packages of glow necklaces. Knowing I was leaving before we could use them, I decided to find a family checking in that might want them. I found a mother unloading a car and looking a bit frazzled. I walked up and asked if they were checking in and when she said yes, I gave her our necklaces. She was so shocked and thankful that she gave me a hug! I could tell that I had made her day and it made me want to spread more magic!

My husband and I went to WDW with 3 of our kids and his mom in 2006. Part of the magic for us was seeing the smiles on ALL of their faces, young and old. My MIL had such a good week with us and I hadn't seen her smile so much as during that time. She passed away 2 years later and all of us remember very fondly that time we spent with Grandma at Disney.

I knew Disney had gotten to me when, a while ago now, my youngest son was sorting through his stuffed toys to give away and he had decided to donate his Winnie The Pooh (which he had bought at Disney when we were there). I almost had a fit and was almost hurt that he wanted to get rid of it. Why? To him at the age of 9 it was just a toy but to me, it reminded me of my 5 yr old on his daddy's shoulders waving Pooh high in the air just because he saw the real Pooh driving by on a float at the MK parade. I will never forget the look of pure joy on his face; it was priceless.

Disney Magic? Some call it commercialism but for me and my family I think it is simply the opportunity we get once or twice in a lifetime to experience pure joy with those you love more than anything and to create memories that last so much longer than that week.
