I keep reading about Curves and I know it is some kind of excercise place, but what exactly is it. How does it work? Is it like a gym? Any information is appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Regi,
Curves was a phenomenon that was a mystery to me for the longest time......some are finally opening up in my area.
This is a workout facility geared towards women. There is a circuit of machines (work your legs/arms/abs/butt....) that work on hydraulic resistance machines - so you go as hard as you want (no weights to worry about). The machines are set up in an oval, and depending on your location (and how many machines there are) dictates how many times around you go. You do a complete aerobic workout in 1/2 an hr. There are platforms between each machine for you to walk/run in place or just move around - this is to let your muscles rest between machine. You are on each machine/platform for only 30 seconds. They have lively music, and an announcement as to when to switch stations.
The women I've met have been wonderful - there is no need to feel self concious (there are women in all different stages of weight loss and workout abilities).
I love it, and I hope my description makes some sort of sense - if not here is their web site.....www.curvesforwomen.com
