I should know this, but I don't.

Can someone tell me what the price per point and minimum purchase is right now?

My son is at WDW right now on his Honeymoon (Kidani and BLT) and he just sent me a text message saying his new wife, who hasn't been to Disney since the 80's, wants to look into purchasing.

I thought I could get back to him with some info.

Thanks

I have read that they are allowing new DVC members in to BLT with only a 100 minimum. That is new and I believe I heard (not sure) it is $6.00/ppt discount for $114.00.

Not a bad way to get in!

Friends just bought at AK and they had to buy 160 points and with the current promotion they paid $110 per point instead of $112.
Jeez...... we paid $62.50 in 1998 at the Boardwalk. I guess it probably felt like $112 per point back then.... I do remember we had to buy at least 200 points. We bought 240.

So those doing Boardwalk resales are doing quite well! They had use of the points since 1998 and then make a profit of $20+ per point when they sell. And for any years they rented points, they made about $5/point over MF for the rentals. Not a bad deal at all! Wish I had purchased back then. =)

I almost fell over when I heard they were $112 a point now. Not sure I could afford to buy into with 240 points. I have said it before and I really said it after the I heard the new price....... I have never regretted buying into DVC

Spoke to my contact yesterday

100 points minimum on ANY resort including ones that are "sold out"

BLT: $120/pt June UY
AKV: 112/pt June UY
SS: 112/pt August UY

I forgot what the Disneyland resort was and I don't have the discounts but they were broken down as follows and varied by resort:
100-159pt
160-199pts
200-319pts
320+ pts

Also, they were giving you full points for 2009 up front.

When I get home I will try to post the discount.

It really makes you wonder how Disney can charge $112/pt for Saratoga when you can buy it resale for low $60s? I hope people aren't paying Disney that much for SSR.

Come visit The Timeshare Store,Inc® for Resales prices. We can save you money compared to Disney's price.

It looks like VGC's prices through Disney are as good if not better than what I have seen the resales have lately. I may deal with Disney if they end up ROFR on my current offer....I wouldn't blame them at $84 per point.

I would tell the kids to enjoy the honeymoon. And think about this large financial committment when they get back and have a chance to think over all the options.

Resales are a compelling option. SSR in nearly half the price of going direct.

That's really true about current direct prices with discount being very close to a wash with resale on GC. With the 2009 points thrown in plus the discount, you come out about even if you factor in the rental value of the points... and you don't have the stress or time for ROFR.

We think alike! I should be hearing on the ROFR within two weeks, going with the timeframe others have reported on here. I think we will probably go with Disney direct if the point offer above is still in effect. Hopefully our current deal will squeak by and we get a steal on VGC.....I noticed that AKV seems to be sold via resale at substantially lower than what Disney charges. VGC just does not have a lot of resale history since it is still fairly "new" to the market.

I could not be more happy! Last year following DVC's first webinar, we bought 275 BLT points for $92/pt. Those same points would cost us $110/pt. That means we saved close to $5000 buying last year versus waiting a year. I hind site, I'm really glad we financed since we didn't have the money at the time, we are ready to pay it off now, but even given about $2000 paid in interest, we still made out better compared to waiting!! :thumbsup2

If you add on directly through Disney and get the '09 points, do they allow you to bank them for next year or do they have to be used before your use year (Dec in my case)?

Dec 09 pts can be banked through the end of july, regardless.

but if you add on directly in oct or november, DVC has typically allowed purchasers to bank the 2009 pts even though it's after july 31 as a perk of buying from them...
