What is "Character's in Bloom?"

Just read this on AllEars and wondered what it is all about.

"May 19, 20, & 21 -- Characters in Bloom - Bring the whole Family to experience a weekend full of character. More Disney Characters than ever will be springing up all over the park!"

We will be arriving on Fri.5/12 and are due to leave on Fri. 5/19. It seems like there is an awful lot going on on 5/19,5/20 and 5/21 (Teddy and Doll weekend, Characters in Bloom, etc.) Just wondering if any of it would be worth extending our stay by a day or two?

"Characters in Bloom" is a special weekend for the Flower and Garden Festival. It features tons of additional character appearences throughout the park including a number of rarer characters. Last year, special characters included characters from "A Bug's Life", All Seven Dwarfs, the Ostrages and Hippos from "Fantasia", and others (I want to say Jiminy was out too, but I can't remember).

Isn't this typically the first weekend of Star Wars Weekends too?

I see so Characters in Bloom are toparies and not meet-n-greet charcaters.

The topiaries are there for the whole Festival. The special characters for the Characters in Blossom weekend are the real meet-and-greet characters.

I been to Disney many times in May, and I never remembered this particular "Characters in Bloom" days before last year. I know they did it last year as some posted their character photos, and I wish I were there! So this may be the second year of it.

If I could sneak time off from my job, I'll love to get there this year!

I think I would like to sneak off to catch this too. Sounds fun.
