What is 'BUMP?"

sorry about this-it is proberly really obvious but what does 'BUMP" mean. I have seen it on loads of Threads?

It just 'bumps' it up the list so if people are looking at 'New Posts' it goes to the top.

Yeah, virtually it's just to bumpt the thread back up. For example, it might be an exchange thread and has become buried on page 2 or 3, so someone might "Bump" it back to page 1.
