Hi Everyone,

Pardon my ignorance, I hear people all the time on this forum talk about corn dogs...lol
We dont have corn dogs in Australia & was wondering what one is?

:confused3

A corn dog is a hot dog on a stick, dipped in a corn meal batter, and deep fried. It is hot, crunchy, salty, a bit sweet from the corn meal -- totally addictive junk food! Goes well with ketchup (more sweet to balance out the salt) and mustard. Some people love them, others hate them. But it is something that DLR does rather well. The Little Red Wagon on Main Street in DL serves theirs with potato chips. The Stage Door Cafe in Frontierland serves theirs with french fries. And Corn Dog Castle in DCA has a hot link version that is very popular. Try at least one on your next trip to see if you like it!

oh ...so theres no corn in it? i will be there in January :sulley:
we have something similar here in OZ & its called a dagwood dog, its a hotdog on a stick dipped in batter & we also have them not on the sticks & theyre called battered savs.

it has corn meal which is like a corn type of flour to explain it better. So yes it has corn in it.

The corn dogs at Disney are the best. My oldest is a corn dog addict and I just cant bring myself to eat the frozen ones lol

I'm going to have to try a dagwood dog when we go to Australia next year. I am not a corn dog fan, though I do try them from time to time. I do like Pronto Pups though I haven't really seen them outside of the midwest.

Are the corn dogs at the Stage Door Cafe the same as the ones from Little Red Wagon? I always give the chips away, but fries...mmm.

Don't feel bad. Us yanks don't know what Vegamite is.

A corn dog is something I ate in elementary school, not since lol.

I have eaten a "dagwood dog" in Australia. They were exactly the same as a "corn dog" here in the States.

Like anything you can get good ones and bad ones. The better the sausage, the better the dagwood/corn dog. The hotlink corn dog with a Red Trolly Ale in DCA is a terrific snack.

Change the name on the cart to "Corn Dogs" and every American would feel at home.

Knowing Aussies, they probably dip their dagwood dogs in mayo rather than properly drizzling mustard on a corn dog. Travesty...
