What is a corn dog?

I have eaten a "dagwood dog" in Australia. They were exactly the same as a "corn dog" here in the States.

Oh, bummer. I was hoping for something closer to a pronto pup batter. I'll probably end up having to make my own.

TRY THE HOT-LINK CORNDOG AT THE CORNDOG CASTLE IN DCA. LOVE EM WITH SPICEY MUSTURD! BEST MEAL IN DCA!:rockband:

Some people say the corn dogs at The Little Red Wagon are better, but the ones at Stage Door Cafe taste pretty darn close!
I honestly haven't eaten at the Little Red Wagon. We chose Stage Door due to location, but I'm sure that they're the same. Where are the Little Red Wagon ones cooked? Right on Main Street?

I've only ever had ones in a wheat flour batter so could be a regional thing?

Tomato sauce mate

What??!!! Its a corn dog, NOT a pizza!!!! Lol, i kid i kid. I love traveling and trying foods that the locals eat. I jist found it funny in London and even other parts of europe how they dip fries (or chips) in mayo instead of ketchup.

It that Aus for Ketchup? I'm picturing someone opening a can of Hunt's tomato sauce and dunking a corn dog in it. Cringe.

Haha, yeah, like ketchup but not as sweet, less spices and no vinegar.

Our condiments section in the fridge definitely increases with each overseas trip! Currently loving pouting here.

Knowing Aussies, they probably dip their dagwood dogs in mayo rather than properly drizzling mustard on a corn dog. Travesty..
LOL were not big mustard fans down under, we dip ours in lots of tomato sauce :thumbsup2

You really aren't missing anything - I never really liked them even as a kid.:duck:

If you want to try some snack cakes - I always preferred Little Debbie brand Swiss Cakes Rolls and Oatmeal Creme Pies, but I haven't had either of those in 20 years or more. Oh, and Moon Pies, I used to love Moon Pies!!

Well i'm not sure if this is just a sonewhat local thing, but we have a fast food takeout place called Wendys that is famous for their "Frosty", basically cheap soft serve ice cream. And its kind of popular here to get fries and a frosty there and dip the fries in frosty. As for other things, let me find a list, i know there is one somewhere. More on frys and frostys here:

Yes Ihave heard of Wendys, some people here dip their fries from mcdonalds into their sundaes.....i personally have never tried this lol. i do find it interesting though how in the US you put cheese & meats etc over your fries.
You have way more food choices over there. & its bigger in size portions too.
Thats why i always put on weight when im there popcorn::

Thanks, i will be sure to check this out ::yes::

A moon pie is a chocolate dipped cookie sandwich made with graham cookies and marshmallow filling.

We have something similar here its called a Wagon Wheel but it has marshmellow & like a strawberry jam filling.

Whoopie Pies! They're lush! More common in the South, I think, but if you get a chance try one.

I know what you mean about meat pies. Savory pies are really not a 'thing' in the US, other than a chicken pot pie. My dad's family is Cornish and pasties (not quite the same as a 'meat pie') were very hard to find growing up in So Cal so we'd only have them when his aunties came down and made them. I now live very close to an area where many Cornish settled during the Gold Rush and it's easy to find them!

Its funny, here in the US i can only find good meat pies at Jamaican restaurants. However in Bath, UK had some amazing cornish pasties.

But if you were in Bath, wouldn't that technically make them Somerset pasties? :D
