I used to play the trumpet many years ago. I have a piano and can pick out a few notes but I cant actually play it.

My next thing though is the Bodhran. Its a celtic hand drum. I just bought one and I cant wait to learn play it!

Some day I would like to play the guitar as well.

From third grade on, I played various instruments. Started with violin (1 yr), then flute (less than 1 yr), then clarinet (several years). I took several years of piano, too. Sometime in middle school I discovered percussion, which turned out to be my favorite. I played through freshman year of college. I love symphonic music, and only did marching band because to play in the symphonic band they force you to march as well.

I would love to learn to play the Japanese drums. I've seen them on TV, and the got to see them in person in Epcot last fall.

ETA: sorry - I hit "post" before I meant to! I wanted to add "hi from a former organizer who gave up" and also that I love the sound of the bodhran!

I had a clarinet in elementary school and took lessons but it would be a stretch to say I actually played the thing  :rotfl2: .

I play the Clarinet and the Piano. I'm in 8th grade.
I also love to sing if you count the voice as an instrument.

I've been taking piano lessons on and off for about 8 years. I've been playing the clarinet for 3.

I play guitar and flute and a little bit of keyboards.

I use to play the drums. I was okay at it, but it's been years since I've touched a drumset. My step father destroyed my drumset, so I have to buy a new one (which they are definately not cheap), and I have to get lessons since it's been years and need to catch up.

I absolutely LOVE the bodhran- dh and I did a gig together a while back where we did a celtic set and he borrowed a bodhran from a friend. What a cool sound! He's a percussionist and I'm a violinist.

I'm a string specialist- I perform professionally on violin and viola, but I also teach cello and bass.

Here's a bodhran site I just found:

and from that site, a list of bodhran jokes!

I am a vocalist, but I also played the Balinese Gamelan in college. I took 4 years of piano but can barely pick and plunk, and I also taught myself how to play the bodhran, although I lost mine when my dormroom flooded and never got another one.

I'm such a band geek! One time in band camp...

I started playing the flute in 4th grade, played through high school in marching and concert bands and still play it on occassion today in church.

I started playing piano in 4th grade too and still sit down a few times a week and tap out a few tunes for my daughters.

I started playing the piccolo in 10th grade in marching band and played it through college in marching band and still play it today in church or just when I want to drive DH nuts.

I also play the fife in a civil war reenactment group on occassion. Although it's been almost 2 years since I've done any public performances with them, I do still like to play.

OMG, too funny! My DH played sax but ended up playing sousaphone in marching band because he was strong enough to carry the thing!!

I'm a middle school band director, so I can play most instruments of the band. Saxophone is my primary instrument, & I'm pretty good on the clarinet. I play in our church band (large church, contemporary music).

I had a few years of piano lessons, but much has been forgotten. I can still play a few favorite songs and Christmas tunes though. I would like to get back into it -- wish I had a piano in my house now! All that eye rolling, and annoyed sighs that I had as a child when my lesson time came around. Now I wish I had stuck with it.

I play the piano, and I have been playing for about 13 years. I started lessons when I was 9, and I had to quit them during my junior year of high school because I didn't have a lot of time to practice anymore. I still love to play when I can find the time.

If I learned to play any other instruments, I would like to learn how to play either the viola or violin and the guitar.

I play the cello. I took lessons through school from 6th-12th grade and participated in orchestra at school and a few local pit orchestras for musicals. I hardly play now, but still can. I'm just a little rusty.

I took piano lessons for about 8 years...sometimes I wish I played better...should have practiced!

I used to play the flute and was really good at it. Unfortunately, I lost interest. I really regret that now! I can play the piano a little. I would love to own one, now that we have the space. I may look for a good used one, my DS has expressed interest in learning how to play it too. I think it's great for any child to learn an instrument! :thumbsup2

I play the keyboard and the piano (I consider them different instruments.) In fact, I just bought a brand new piano to replace my telelvision. I'd rather make music than watch reruns of the same old thing.
