What in The World Are you Taking Into the Parks???

I will be doing a solo two-day trip to Universal and Disney. I saw some of these threads and thought to myself that it would be awesome to go bagless. Then I realized it just wouldn't work for me.

My iPhone does not fit comfortably into the front or back pockets of my shorts. Then I will need my wallet and sunscreen. Plus my water bottle and kindle.

I could never get by with just random cups of water from CS places. I drink 100+ ounces of water a day at home, the amount I drink walking around Disney is absurd. I need my 22oz stainless bottle to survive. Luckily I am not picky about water, because I have never had an issue with the water from Disney water fountains.

When my kiddos were baby I would bring everything but the kitchen sink. As they grew older I would bring everything I could think of including the fire extinguisher. Now they are teenagers I bring "NOTHING"!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

When we go, DH carries a backpack - we found one that isn't very big, but has so many deep pockets, it fits a ton in there. We carry stuff like wipes (which we've needed on many occasions, sunscreen, bandaids, flip flops for the kids if we're doing anything that gets us wet, chargers for our phones. The kids carry their own small back packs- autograph books, water, snacks, pins mickey ears when they are tired of wearing them. We went one time without their back packs and I was more annoyed with continually going in and out of the bags that I will always have them carry their own bags. I carry a small purse for my phone, credit card, id because I don't like having to keep asking for it.

DH and I don't have kids, but we still take a backpack. It isn't too full though. It includes ponchos, sweatshirt (if cool) small first aid kit, phones and chargers, hand sanitizer, wipes, tissues, Advil, etc. We have a fairly bulky camera and DH usually carries it, but there is room in the pack for it when on a ride that we don't want/need to take pictures on.

We generally have any packages sent back to the room, but in case there is something small, I like having room in the backpack to stick that also.

It boggles my mind as well. I mean, if you have a child in diapers, I can see the need for a bag. Besides that, unless you have some medical need...:confused3

We went mid December.

When we arrived at the parks we'd have all our layers on including puffy coats because it was cold. As the day progressed we'd shed layers and need somewhere to put them.

Plus, my daughter wanted to wear her princess dresses when she met princesses, but didn't want them on all day, so we had to shove those somewhere as well.

We also had her autograph book, mickey ears, water, 2 cameras, and snacks, plus usual everyday stuff (wallet, lip balm, phone, pennies for the penny machines, etc.)

Also, we did some character dining and had photos from that.

So we were fairly heavily weighed down - and that's a big reason I still get a stroller even though she's 5 and never uses one outside of Disney.

This will all shift as she's older and can carry her own stuff.

Does anyone know if this Mickey water bottle in its holder would need to go through bag check? Seems kinda silly to ask but I don't wanna take it if it does. ...Well I tried attaching a picture but it won't work...Its the red Mickey water bottle with a matching holder with strap on the disney store website on sale.

Our plan is to still go bag less otherwise. I have an otterbox commuter wallet (with our IDs and a cc/some cash) on my phone and other than that we wouldn't carry much. Maybe some Chapstick and a sunblock stick but that's it.

As much as I would love to go bagless, it doesn't work for me. This last trip I used a lesportsac crossbody and it worked great. I carried my phone, wallet, two back up batteries, an autograph book if we planned on meeting characters, and a water bottle for the hubs and I to share. I think that was it for the most part besides maybe some make up. I loved not using a backpack or drawstring because I know I would be constantly taking it on and off to grab something. The crossbody was really convenient and comfortable. :goodvibes I couldn't imagine bringing my whole house with me.

Iphone and battery pack
ID
camera
All in a teeny tiny crossbody purse
and Magicband on my wrist

In Sept we were lugging Ponchos (it was that part of September where it basically never stopped raining...)

I've tried to carry nothing but there are certain essentials required for a day in the parks. I don't want to carry a small bag or wear a backpack all day so I wear a largish fanny pack to WDW. It is the only place on earth I wear one. It's just so darned convenient. I haven't figured out a more comfortable or convenient method of carrying what we need for the day. There is only so much room in DW's purse.

In it is my iPhone wallet in a waterproof bag, sunglasses, a rugged, waterproof, point and shoot digital camera, sunscreen, ponchos, a hand towel, and empty water bottle straps. DW carries norovirus killing hand sanitizer plus what is normally in her purse.

I take a backsack...smaller.

In it goes my small bag with my credit cards/cash/ID.

Face powder, a brush, lip gloss.

My phone, in a ziplock

Small tube of sun block (we are northerners just coming out of the frozen tundra...we burn at the first wink of the sun...reapplication every 3 minutes or so ;) )

A small travel container of wet wipes because my kids are the messiest people to ever live and it's easier than running to the bathroom every 2 minutes when they inevitably get more chocolate (or is that dirt??) on their face.

A gallon sized zip lock (to put DH's stuff in in the case of rain or water ride)

And some zip locks of snacks (trail mix brought from home, a few granola bars, etc) because my kids go from happy to hangry in about 6 seconds and shoving some peanuts down their gullet seems to be the quickest answer to their problems.

Oh, and if need be, a piece of paper with my reservation number(s) for that day.

Weighs very, very little...rarely realize I have it on my back.

I take a small Vera Bradley backpack (the purse size) with:
Some cash and my id in the zipper pocket
Iphone and portable power source
Powder, lipgloss, small sunscreen
Ponytail holder
Room for our refillable mugs once we've emptied them

Any suggestions for someone with a 1 year old. I really don't want to bring the diaper bag since it's huge. Want to bring a backpack with the babies supplies like diapers, formula, some food, sunblock, water, couple changes of clothes, etc... We plan on staying on property at one of the resorts on the monorail so going back for something is not a big deal. Any suggestions for a backpack that has a water bottle holder.

I have found a lightweight drawstring backsack is the best way to go. They are under $3 on Amazon. When my kids were that young, I would bring enough diapers to change every 2 hours (for worst case scenario...). So, typically 5 - 7 diapers. The refill of wipes, a small ziplock with formula in it, if needed, and an empty bottle. Then typically 2 outfits. Oh, and a waffle receiving blanket. Everything plus my normal stuff fit into the backsack just fine.

I typically take one bag for my family of 4. This year, hoping no bags. They are both teenagers, new magic bands, etc. I would LOVE to avoid bag check.

I have 4 kids. For our last trip in October we had ages 13 months - 7 years. Our 13 month old had special medical concerns requiring us to bring in all food he would consume and some medical gear. Also, we brought a lot of food in with us because the kids want to snack a lot and often prefer a PBJ to the lunch options and I'd rather not pay Disney prices for a PBJ. We would have 1 very full diaper bag, 1 bag of food, 1 cooler of food, and that's about it.

I'd love to go bagless but I just can't. My skin is as white as this page, and DD is even lighter. I need to carry sunscreen at the very least. Then there's water, wipes, autograph book for DD. I do try to limit what's in there, though.

I know what you are talking about. Not very crazy about those due to no compartments to separate items and those strings dig into my shoulders. Need something with thick padding on the shoulder straps. I like the Oakley bags, especially the kitchen sink.

I have not had any issues with the strings, and we use gallon sized zip locks to separate. Works well (and cheap!!) for us :)
