What if we don't fit?

DME won't work (it was my immediate thought too) as the OP is going to the beach for three days prior to WDW.
I agree with those who say just go w/the minivan at the onset!

See, I knew I was missing something. :)

OP, I'd go with the minivan...if you're going to the beach first, then you'll have to pack the car at the airport, then at the beach, then again at the end of the trip. That's a lot of packing and having to struggle to make it fit. But...why not try to name your own price for a van on Priceline?

Ok. That would make mine about $300, which is a little better. I'm hoping for under $300. Last year we paid $240.55 for the same number of days.

Since you still have a few weeks, I wouldn't be surprised if the rates came down some more.

We leave on 8/27 and I just found the Hertz/BJ's deal on 8/16.

Another thought... why not ditch the van (or rental car) once you finish at the beach? if you are staying at WDW at a WDW resort, you can have hubby drop you/kids/luggage off at resort... while you and kids unpack, relax, swim, etc., hubby can take the car back (if Alamo or National, right on WDW property w/free shuttle back to your WDW resort; if other, he can take it to the airport and book DME for the ride back to resort) and ultimately the five of you can take DME to the airport :)

That way you are only paying for 3 days instead of 10 (or however many you will be at beach and WDW combined)!

Good idea. That might work. The only time the car would be really useful is our Boma dinner and if we go to DTD one night.

And for those you can use a taxi.:). You can request a taxi van and they cost the same as a taxi car.

Some do, but they are not required in taxis (crazy law!). Will you be flying with a carseat for your littlest?

I thought Florida law DID require them in taxis? (In all automobiles, actually.)

Do they provide car seats/boosters?

Some will, but whether or not they will provide three is a different matter. You'll probably need to call a cab service and arrange this pick up with the right number of seats ahead of time.

Yes we are flying with a car seat for my youngest (she's only 1). My oldest technically doesn't need a booster in Florida, but my middle would.

Unfortunately, the child safety laws is Florida do not apply to for-hire car services, including taxi cabs. That means thousands of children visiting Orlando and riding on the state’s roads are needlessly at risk.
