Is there places at the resorts to download your personal pics onto a CD? Just in case my memory card gets full. Or should I just bring a backup memory card?

I believe they do offer copying your memory card to CDs at the photo centers in the park, but it would probably be cheaper to just buy an additional card or two before you leave. Memory has become so much more affordable lately. I just bought 3 additional 1G SDcards for a little over $25 off of amazon. Last time I looked, Disney charged closed to that to download to CD and I don't think that would cover one 1G card.

We just bring pleny of memory cards that way we don't have to worry about it and take the time to transfer to CD.

Ditto! :goodvibes I went through 4 cards last trip to WDW! I recently bought two 2 gig cards on sale... next trip I won't use any restraint when taking pictures, I will have plenty of room!:rotfl:

i saw it somewhere posted ( not sure if on here or not ) that at the camera centers they make you a disk from your memory card. i didnt know they did that but Wow would be cheaper then buying a memory card . my memory card holds up to 200 pics but it wasent cheap either. if i find it i will post it again here :)

We used the Kodak kiosks that most of the parks' photo centers and some of the resort gift shops have. Back in 2004 it was about $15 for each CD (holds up to 120 pics). We haven't used them since because you can get a 1gig memory card for less than twice that price and it can hold almost 10 times that many pics. Overall, like others have said, you'd be better off just purchasing additional memory cards.

We brought our laptop and an extra memory card. That was a big help. We dumped the pics on the laptop each night, and if hubby got a little snap happy in the parks (which he did), then he had "backup".

I found what I was refering to earlier in this posting.. I know the one camera center is in Imagination ( figment ride ) hope this helps.
Camera Services
Various camera services are available at several Theme Park locations. These services may include CD burning of digital camera memory card photos, film sales, camera sales, camera and digital camera accessories and minor camera repair. Film can be purchased at most retail locations.

I'm like others, I just buy an extra card. We have a total of 2 gig for our Canon SLR and have never run out. However, with a 15 day stay, I think I'll buy an extra 2 gig just to be on the safe side. I haven't bought a compact flash card for our Canon in quite some time so I'm not sure how much it will cost. However, I just bought a 2 gig SD for my Kodak and it was less than $20.

Thanks to all of you for the replies. I have decided to just get more memory cards. I think that will be the easiest thing to do.:thumbsup2

Does anyone know if they can "load" them on to your Photopass account if you prepay for the photopass cd? It would be great if they could that. I'm sure it would involve an extra "fee".

Do you have any problems carrying around your SLR? I just got a Canon SLR for my b-day and I'm scared to take it with me - what with sudden rain, jostling crowds, and wild rides... any advice?

You definately can if you are going to buy the photobook. But the clock starts ticking on the photopass acct as soon as your activate it. So if you are doing a share or something, that wouldn't work. Also, your own pictures won't actually be on the cd, it would just be on the photopass website.

The SLR is BIG, but you can't beat the picture quality and the ability to "snap, snap, snap" It is so nice not having to wait on the camera and to have the ability to take one picture immediately after another. I didn't realize how important it was until we went in January. Since DH wasn't coming, I bought a Kodak Easyshare, since it is small and easy to carry around. Well, when I was taking pictures of the kids with the characters, I had to wait several seconds between each shot. And with a 2 YO, it was hard to get a good shot the first time. I guess if I hadn't been spoiled by my SLR, it wouldn't had been that big of deal. But it seemed like it took forever.

Anyway, we have a large camera bag that we carry it in. We have 3 additional lenses too that we keep int there. The extra sizes are nice to have because if you have a lens with too big of a zoom, you can't get close shots. A lens with too small of a zoom, you can't get good pics on rides. Yes, it is a pain to carry it around, that is why I bought my small Kodak; however, I make DH carry it around :lmao: .

We've never had a problem with rain (and we've seen our fair share of it at WDW) or the wild rides. It's been on a total of 3 WDW trips and not once have we had a scare.

It is definitely worth taking. The year we went to DL, we had just bought a SLR 35 mm. DH didn't want to take it because he was worried about the same things you are. We regretted it the whole time not having it. Then we bought the SLR Digital right before our first trip to WDW and it has been worth every single penny and pain!

We bring our laptop and dump them to it.

That's totally what we did. Everyday at nap time in the hotel we would download the pics on our laptop while the kids slept then we would charge the camera battery for that night. It worked great for us.

I read somewhere (on here, probably) to buy an extra card but don't open the package. If you don't end up needing it, just return it when you get home. Luckily I have a friend with a similar camera who is loaning me her battery and card to have for spares :thumbsup2

Memory cards have become so cheap, why not just buy as extra one. That way you won't be rushed to look over the pictures and decide which ones to keep and which ones to discard.
