What if it rains????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok...i made the big mistake of typing into my computer "orlando, florida 15 day weather forecast" and it brought up accuweather 15 day forecast and i looked for the dates we are at WDW (jan 21-28) and jan21 and 22 are now showing up on the 15 day forecast and are now saying 74/52 and 73/50 but with "rain possible" so does that mean in florida in jan that it will rain the whole day or is it just like summer where it is a shower and then moves on????????????//and if it does rain are the parks still open and do you just get soaked...and oh i am so depressed.....i have waited, and waited for a perfect vacation and now RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! someone tell me good news.

If it rains....you buy a $4.00 souvenier mickey poncho and do every thing you would have done had it been sunny.

Rain, unless it's a hurricane, should not effect your abillity to enjoy the parks what so ever. This time of year, you may get an entire day of rain, as opposed to half hour down pours in the summer. But you just go forward like normal.

Dont put much stock in a 10-15 forecast. Since central florida comes from the east off the gulf, they realley have very little chance of getting it correct past 3 days out.

Just be prepared for sun or rain, heat, mild, or cold and you will be fine. You are going to see some combination of thos in your week. see ya the 21st - 28th.

We've never been to WDW when it didn't rain at least one day. Unless it is a torrential downpour with lightning and hail, you just don a poncho and keep going.

I wouldn't get too worried about a forecast that is 15 days out. They can't even get tomorrow's weather forecast right around here, weather predictions for more than 2 weeks away are not that reliable.

First, unless there's a hurricane clearly approaching, any weather forecast more than 3 days out is more guess than science. In addition, Fla. is a sub-tropical landmass surrounded by warm waters on three sides. There's ALWAYS a chance of rain, so in 'predicting' (guessing) what 4 days from now will be, you're likely to find a chance of rain in the forecast. If the day before you depart for WDW they call for couldy, 80% rain, then worry and have your rain gear with you in any case.

The last time I was in Florida in January, if it rained it only rained for maybe 30 minutes then was cloudy the rest of the day. They won't close the parks unless it starts lightening, but then they may not...since most of the rides are all inside. When DH and I were planning our Honeymoon last September, we were supposed to have rain everyday...we did but only for about 20 minutes..then fine!

I would suggest taking some ponchos just in case, but try and go with the flow!

I think the ponchos are closer to $8, so bring one from home. There are lots of threads about what to get, and a lot of DIS'ers get the cheapo one-use ponchos from WalMart or the Dollar Store. They pitch them before coming home.

I have 5 that were originally $.50 each from Big Lots, and I take them on every trip in case of rain. So far, we've been lucky, we haven't needed them.

And remember that Walt Disney World emcompasses 27,000 acres. So it may be raining in AK and clear at MK.

Don't let it worry you - unless it rains all day (and that is more likely in the summer wet season) just keep doing whatever you were planning on doing.

We always pack ponchos just in case. On our trip last week we never needed them.

Rain, rain the crowds go away!
As OPs have said, don those ponchos & hop on the rides with little or no waiting!
Yeah, once it rained heavily for a few hours & even wearing ponchos we got soaked but we also rode RnR, ToT etc multiple times, to our hearts' content & without waiting--
it was super!
if it is torrential, bring along a pair or two of dry sox
as for the 15 day forecast nope, we put no stock in it-

You'll gonna have a great trip! Now on to the next WDW trip related obsession

We rarely have all day rain. That's not to say it doesn't happen, but believe me, I'd notice if it was all day rain. Typically it's only a sudden downpour that lasts maybe 1/2 hour to an hour. If it does happen, just duck into a shop, find a nice indoor ride or show, or go eat.

Don't worry about it, basically. And on the upside, when it does start raining, people seem to leave the parks in droves. Considering you don't melt, stick it out---if you get a little wet, it's no big deal. Who is going to care what you look like?

i think they shut a few rides down if the weather is really bad (test track and astro orbiter are the ones coming to mind). but an upside to rain is that a lot of people tend to clear out of the parks. my mom and i went to F&W at Epcot a few years ago and it poured. she put on a poncho and we strolled around WS, walking right up to each food booth, no lines!!
DEFINITELY bring a poncho though, cos i didn't have one, and got soaked & cold & threw up all over epcot germany oops.

dont sweat it...it is 15 days out..do you know how many times the weather is going to change in that time frame...the last two times we have gone it has rained at least once and it is no big deal....

We were at DW Dec. 2-11 and it rained 2 days while we were there. We bought ponchos and went with the weather. I have to tell you the truth, the best day we had was at MK where it showered all day. The park was empty. We have shown our pics since we have been back and everyone says, where are all the people?? We stayed as dry as we could and rode and saw shows without a problem except the bigger attractions like Test Track which was outside, but those 2 days really ranked high as a few of our better days.

Slap on your ponchos and go!

One of our best days ever at Disney was a torrential downpour ALL DAY at Animal Kingdom. We had a fabulous time! The animals were out and so active on the Safari...we went several times that day because although it was a holiday week (Easter week 2004), the park was empty. We did everything...we were even able to stay on Kali River Rapids 3x in a row!

Make the best of it and have fun! I'll take a rainy day in Disney over a nice day in NJ any day!

One trip a few years back it rained quite a bit for a few of our park days. It rained long and hard particularly the day we went to MGM. We stuck it out and had fun even though we got soaked!!

Definately don't pay too much attention to the weather forecast as of yet. It will probably change. The forecast before my last trip said rain for the first three days of our trip. The only time we had any substantial rain was for a little while on christmas morning.

If it rains you buy a poncho & keep going! Remember to pack an extra pair of good walking shoes! If you are in the parks & your shoes get wet, chances are they wont be dry for the next day. So pack an extra pair & switch on and off.

The parks are open & even in the rain, you can still have a lot of fun!

Agree... two years ago it rained one day almost all day (it almost always rains at least a few days of our trip for 1/2 - 1 hour at a time). We bought ponchos and had one of the most memorable days ever! the pictures from that day are priceless!

Just keep swimming, just keep swimming................really, we love the showers.......cool's it down, sends people who don't understand Florida rain back to the hotels, and gives us a couple hours of reduced crowds...........
