Just use my RFID enabled park ticket to get in, make FP+ (sigh) and I don't use those ding-dang bands? (:rotfl:) Can i do this? I am eligible for a band, but what if I get it,and don't want to use it? Can I leave it home in the box, and just use my card/ticket,the way I used to? Someone talk sense to me! :rotfl2::lmao::worship: I have tickets bought already...

Sure you can do that. One day my DD forgot to put hers on, but I had her key card, so she used that instead that day. I wasn't sure about the bands and ended up liking them.

I probably wouldn't leave them at home. But you can certainly leave them in your bag and only use them in when you need them

You can absolutely just use your ticket media. When we're in the parks I keep my MB looped on a purse strap (just an idea for you) for easy access at the entrance and FP+. I tried to wear it but just couldn't.. the only items I want on my wrists are a watch and a nice bracelet.

Are you staying onsite? I assume so based on the fact that you will be getting the band at home prior to the trip?

If staying onsite...I would not leave the band at home. You SHOULD be able to get a key card at check in that will open your room door, be used for dining/charging to the room, etc...but have heard mixed reports on whether or not this has actually been happening (some people reported being told no and needing their bands). I guess even if you don't bring your band...they can give you a plain grey one at check in...but it seems like the more complicated people make this process (needing another band reprogrammed, etc) the more issues they have with the bands.

If it's just for park entry and FP+...your ticket will work just fine for that and you do not need the band.

same here for my family, no one wants to wear it....hoping for a card still, OR will store them in my purse! Disney needs to make sure there are back up options for those with Sensory issues. The cards fit better in a pocket!

I'm an AP holder and visit WDW often - no, you do NOT have to use a MB! I use my AP to enter parks, return for FPs, even open my room door, though I ask (and always receive) a key card for the room, too. Basically, any RFID-chipped thing linked to your MDE profile will work with all RFID readers.

That said, I wouldn't leave the MB at home. Bring it, just in case, as a back-up. Things are still screwy and more than once, one of my RFID devices stopped working, but another worked just fine.

Some have reported that the resorts weren't issuing the cards anymore so if they aren't, you would need it for a room key and dining plan if you're using those but could use your ticket for park entry & FP+ itself.

They may not automatically give you a KTTW card, but will certainly make one for you if asked.

Huh? Why is everyone saying you can use your ticket? We just got MB's, no actual ticket media. But maybe that's because we did a package through Disney. Are you talking about if you purchase tickets from UT or a Disney Store or something?

^ Exactly. They are not issuing them as standard practice, but have the ability to when requested. I've requested and received key cards for stays a week ago, a month ago, and the month before that. It's not a big deal - just let the CM know at check-in that you don't want to use a MB and prefer a key card for room entrance. No sweat!

They will be happy to make you a kttw card. You just have to ask!

You can even do everything in the my magic website with a kttw card, just like a mb!

All of the info about MBs on their site and in the MB box says that you can get a card if you don't want to use the MB.

I think the reports we remember were as FP double dipping was being phased out resort by resort. An the CMs didn't quite comprehend what was being asked for. Since the FAQs and t&c for MBs states clearly that you can get a card instead.

I had a question about my annual passes linking to my Magic Bands as I won't receive an AP Magic Band as I'm outside the US. I also asked if I had to wear the Magic band. Here is what Disney replied with:

Thank you for contacting the Walt Disney World® Resort.

As long as your resort reservation and your Annual Pass are both linked
to your My Disney Experience account, then your Magic Band will be able
to function as your room key and your Annual Pass both! Magic Bands are
designed to read all information on your account, whether it be Annual
Passes, additional theme park tickets, FastPass+ selections, or room
reservations.

In addition, if you would rather not wear your Magic Bands, you can ask
at your Front Desk for room keys instead. They have all the same
functionality of the Magic Bands.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact
us.

I used my Ap rfid card on more than 1 occasion to get into room as I could never get band lined up right at door

We forgot our MBs at our (offsite) hotel once and used our APs for FP with no issues.

Just curious why you don't want to use the band. I'll be down there in 18 days for my first trip with MBs and I'm curious why you don't want to use it.

I know for me there is a good chance I won't want to wear it. I don't tend to like wearing things on my wrists. On the odd occasion that I put on a bracelet or a watch, it usually comes off within a few hours.

My skin in my hand/wrist area also tends to be very sensitive, and certain items can cause me to break out in a rash if I wear them for a prolonged period of time.

I will give it a try, but will most likely switch to predominately using my room card.

I can't wear anything on my wrists- no watches, bracelets, even pony tail holders. They drive me insane and give me anxiety.

We were offsite last time so no MB for us, but I would assume that next time I will have to wear it on a ring on my belt loop or something.

Good. I was a lil worried about the kids playing with them and losing them. I might just hold my sons in my bag after we enter.
