DH just remined me and DS we are flying home with suitcases.

We may not have much room for big souvenirs, or must buys.

Can we mail or ship items home from ports or ship?

Boxes/postages?

Thanks,
Linda

You can ship purchases home from the ship, I am not too sure on shipping home items bought in the ports, but I imagine there is something shipboard to do so.

We ALWAYS pack a few, very light vinyl tote type bags in the bottom of a suitcase to make up for the increased luggage on the way home.

We DO NOT pack the our new found treasures in them.

We pack our dirty laundry in them, and our treasures in our nice sturdy suitcases.

Make sure you pack a few extra luggage tags in case you need them.

Just what we do.

Jim

PS We discovered this trick when in europe and had a crib in the last place we stayed that was FILLED with stuff.

A couple of cheap totes later and it was all home.

We always pack an extra suitcase inside of another suitcase for this reason. Just check with your airline to know how many bags you can check for free. If you are over your limit most are charging $80. per extra bag or an overweight bag.

Jim looks like we posted the same idea at the same time. We had this kind of a problem in England too. We had to use a friend's suitcase to get home with from there.
In fact last summer while at WDW I had to buy a suitcase to get home because I forgot to pack an extra one.

Hey JillJill,

Great minds think alike!

As a lifelong Corkonian, I hope you will not only be going to Dublin but also venture beyond the Pale into Real Ireland. By that I mean Cork, of Course.

Just kidding. Some of my favorite relatives live in Dublin. But you can't choose your relatives.

Oops. There I go again.

I always stick a couple of foldable cardboard box kits (our local grocery sells them in the postal supplies area) in the bottom of my bags. I've used them to mail home sweaters when the weather changed, expensive shoes that gave me blisters, and lots of souveniers. Hotels are always willing to help a guest perform ordinary magic, like post a package to home... Sure helps make room for more in the luggage and the kits weigh almost nothing... Also saves you time in hunting up empty boxes in the middle of uncharted waters...so to speak.:p
