With Disney investing so much money into anti-gambling in Florida, what exactly would happen if gambling did pass in Florida? More competition? Would it possibly have a positive effect on tourist, with lower prices and more deals?
TONS more competition for Disney. If Disney were not campaigning against this and I were a shareholder I'd be very concerned. Disney doesn't do casinos but casinos next door would devour Disney's profit margin and they know it.
If I lived in Florida I think I would be ticked off at Disney for trying to control the decision. I think all those old people in Florida would love some casinos. The only people I know who gamble are elderly. It doesn't interest me and I can't imagine the families going to Disney would go to casinos instead.

Exactly. Lots of older folks with scooters and mobility issues and oxygen tanks in casinos, especially a retirement state like FL, not so much the target audience for Space Mountain .
I have relatives who are professional gamblers, while 50 years old and fully mobile, they are childless and live/vacation very differently than I do as a mom of 4.
The closest casino to WDW is the Hard Rock in Tampa,if it wasn't for Disney there would be many more in Central Florida.South Florida probably has like a dozen casinos.
