Hi all, we just returned from a 5 day trip, myself, hubby and 3 daughters ages 7, 9 and 11. We stayed at the Anaheim Hilton ($51 a night plus $15 a day for parking thanks to priceline).

A few things I learned:
*The tiki bar (dole whips) does not take any AAA or AP discounts as of 2 weeks ago.
*The Disney outlet was amazing, I spent a few hours there looking at everything. We bought things there that were still for sale at Disneyland, a hat for $5.99 that was $22 at the parks. They had shirts, sweatshirts, hats, ears, toys, posters, jewelry, pins, books, etc.
*The parks were *dead* on Weds and Thurs, we were walking on a ton of rides. Friday and Sunday were busy, Friday night being the worst. We were lucky enough to ride Star Tours alone on Thursday night, a once in a lifetime thing for us.
*At Goofy's kitchen we saw Alladin, Mulan, Briar bear, Pluto, Chip, Dale and of course Goofy. We went for Saturday brunch and were there for almost 3 hours, we had asked how long we could stay and our server said they were dead so we could stay as long as we wanted. The characters kept coming back to our table, it was so much fun.
*We went to Huntington beach on Saturday, it was great, warm water, soft sand beaches...and the beach was clean!
*The Hilton was too big for us, I know I can't complain because of the price we paid, but it took forever to get an elevator, the pool was tiny, the parking garage would get busy and it was hard to get out of and the hotel is in the middle of a huge remodel. The night we arrived we had 3 girls who had to use the potty and we were informed that the water was off...until 5am...and they had a computer problem and made us change rooms the next day, to a room 5 doors down.
*The timon parking lot is still open!!! The tram runs whether or not it is open, so if you are staying at the Hilton, Jolly Roger, Sheraton Park or any hotel along there you can use the Timon tram to get into the parks quickly.
*We brought drinks (water and soda bottles) and food (granola bars, chips, carrots, bananas etc) into the parks, the only things we ended up buying were dole whips. We would sometimes leave and eat at White Water snacks, I highly reco them, the kid meals were huge and really good.
*It is possible to do it on a budget and we did fairly well, we ate $5 subs at Subway, we ate Costco $10 pizza, we had the Pizza hut pasta and did Taco bell. We ate breakfast in the room, we had a big cooler that we kept in the room, the Hilton gave us a little fridge for no charge which was nice so we didn't have to keep filling the ice chest.

Thanks for sharing your observations!

Man, I think White Water Snacks is the best kept secret in the parks! We rushed in there one night just before closing, and the staff was so gracious. We ate there a couple of time because it was so close to our room.

Thank you for sharing...great information about crowds...or lack of...on the weekdays...Gives me hope for the Nemo ride...:yay: ... jc

Can't wait to try this place myself. After looking at the menus and prices, it's definitely worth a try.

The Breakfast Burrito and the French Dip are great!

havenbt ate there but planing on it when we go this time we have one nice meal a day (charcter meals or BB ) but white water snacks is on my list for at least one lunch or dinner ive heard so many good things about it (what time do they close?)

Welcome back, :)

I am very glad to know that you had a really nice visit, and that is an awesome price, for the Hilton, no less, now that is really great shopping, as it were. :) I am going to have to give price line et al a try, really.

I continue to read good things about WW snacks, so I might just have to take a look at them.

.

So is this within walking distance to the hotel? and if so, what is the best way to get there. We are staying at the Hilton this weekend. We have stayed there before but not while visiting Disneyland (Bon Jovi concert!:woohoo: ) Anyway, we are getting there Friday afternoon (around 1:30 pm). Do you think we can park in the parking garage and then walk to the tram without checking into our room yet? or will there be an issue with the time on the parking ticket being earlier than check in time?

Welcome back.. i'm glad Your family had a happy trip!
:goodvibes

Is the disney outlet you speak of within walking distance from Hojo's or if I take the trolley will it take me there as I am not renting a car.

the outlet is not in anaheim. it's in fullerton if i remember right. anyway, the trolley doesn't go there but it's very easy to get to on the octa bus. i did this during my last trip to DL & plan to do it again in Oct. We won't be renting a car either. The fare was $3 for a card good all day when I was there last or you could pay as you went which was actually probably a dollar cheaper if you are just going to the outlet store. you can get exact directions on the octa website. it's about a 10 minute or so ride up harbor blvd. & then you have to walk across a HUGE parking lot (the store is around on one side and not well marked) but the deals were definitely worth it! have a great time. :goodvibes

Yes, Timon is the fastest way to get from the Hilton into the parks, the entrance is right across the street from the convention center. If you had a question about parking in the lot, just ask the people at check in or call them and see what they say, they might let you check in early, they do have over 1500 rooms there :)

As far as the outlet, you would have to take the bus, it's in Fullerton, quite a ways down Harbor, it's on the other side of Circuit City. Great deals...hubby bought his much coveted Mickey Crocs for $19.95!!

Do you know what time White Water Snacks:) opens in the morning????

The $5 subways. Hadn't thought of that. I might add the $5 Quiznos. I THINK Quiznos is still on Harbor right there in one of the hotels, or did it switch to a Cold Stone??

Dead huh? Neat...I guess. Great for you BAD for DL. Locals came out on Friday

YMMV - I was at DLR last Sunday and the parks were fairly slow. We walked onto lots of attractions at both DL and DCA. Screamin' was a 10 min wait (standby) and even Toy Story Mania was about a half hour or so. I went again yesterday (Thursday) and the parks were much more crowded. Toy Story was about an hour, Screamin' was 45 min. The Disneyland attractions we 'walked on' on Sunday had 20 min or more waits.

Attendance and wait times have been varying quite a bit lately. So...be prepared for crowds whatever day you go, but use all the great tips on the DIS and maximize your time. You may end up with a delightfully less crowded day.

Where is this White Water Snacks that everyone is talking about? We are going at Christmas and staying at the Hilton as well. We need cheap places for eating at. You can't eat breakfast all the time in your room.

White Water snacks is located in the Grand Calif hotel. If you use the DCA entrance to the hotel it is just to the left near the pool.

Do you have an address for the Outlet? We will be renting a car for our trip, and I am bringing my GPS so, if I could get an address that would be soooo helpful!!!

Thanks:goodvibes
