What have you seen on the EA? (running thread)

n2mm,

When I saw there was only one car on the Emerald Aisle (and we didn't want it), I looked at the Intermediate Aisle. There was only one vehicle there. When the girl in the booth told me to pick from the Executive Aisle, I asked if we'd have a problem when we got to the "check out" booth and she said, "No, and if they say anything, just tell them Jennifer told you that you could take one from the Executive Aisle because there aren't any on the EA." We had no problem at all.

We arrived on the B side at 10:30am on 9/30. There were 3 Malibus and a couple of Grand Am's. We took a Grand Am and it was fine. There were some sice cars in the Executive Aisle. A bunch of SUV's, a minivan and a few bigger cars too.

We arrived on 9/25 at 3:00pm, B side.

It was the day before hurricane Jeanne and there was nothing parked on either the emerald aisle or executive aisle. We were told to pick from the full size aisle. Ended up with a Chevy Impala which had great trunk space, but wasn't terribly exciting otherwise!

We thought the same thing about the Impala. It looks good from the outside, and the trunk is large, so we ran up and looked in and we were dissappointed. Kinda bland. Dash board was boring. :chat: Anyone else think so, Or is national just getting the "cheap" version of this car? I wanted to rent one, cause I considered buying one after seeing them on TV.

I got an Impala in May and liked it. I had the sport model with a spoiler. The trunk is huge. We bought liters of pop and they had rolled to the back, I had to literally climb in to reach them.

No, that's the Impala alright. They are great cars though. They score well in crash tests and get good gas miledge (well, much better than an SUV or mini-van, anyway). And they are relatively inexpensive for their size. My husband is a car guy so I hear all this stuff all the time  . Grand Am's are more exciting to drive, but Impalas are more practical and probably safer.

Arrived on B side 9/30 @ 9:30am...lots of Malibu's and Pontiac's...we chose an Aztec which had 352 miles on it! It rode nice even though it's a little weird looking on the outside.

The exact same thing happened to us. A couple of bottles rolled around for 2 days before we could reach them.

When we arrived on 10/6, there were 3 small cars (not sure what kind) and 4 or 5 mini-vans. I did not want a mini-van. I talked to the girl standing there. I asked where all the cars were and she said rented. I asked about something from the Executive Aisle, she said to talk to the girl in the office right there and see about upgrading. I had an upgrade coupon and would be glad to pay the $20.00 difference. When I walked in that office, they told me that they were over-sold by 247 cars for that day (a Wednesday) and they would not let me have an upgrade even if I paid the difference!!!!! So, I walked out and took the Impala that the girl had originally told me we could have (even though it wasn't on the Aisle). When we went thru the check-out process, the girl never said one thing about taking a car not on the aisle, and we were charged our original confirmed rate when we turned it back in.

There was very slim pickins when we returned the car to the airport on Sunday night, too.

I arrived on October 7 at 10:00 am on the A side. There was exactly 1 car on EA (I think it was a Malibu). I asked the attendant where to go for EA and she directed me to the Executive Aisle. There was only 1 car there as well!! It was a Grand Prix with only 12 miles on it!! We hopped in were not questioned at the booth about the fact that it was on the executive aisle rather than EA. Other than the fact that my tall DH had some difficulty getting in and out of the car, it worked out great.

I had the opportunity to talk to one of the supervisors in the garage before we left. He said that they have a very low inventory of cars due to tourists taking them one way north during the hurricanes. They are having a difficult time getting them back. As a result, Orlando Airport, especially the EA and Executive Aisle, has been very low on cars. Anyone renting in the near future should continue to expect slim pickings.

I'm hoping things will change by the time I pick up my next rental on Xmas day.

We scored another Impala. Dh and I headed to National as soon as we got off the plane! Just as we were walking up to the Emerald Aisle, an attendent was parking a tan Impala still wet from the car wash. Once we picked out our car, DH went back to baggage claim for our bags (which just started to be unloaded) while I waited to check out of the garage.

My tip is if there is more than one Adult, 1 person stay behind for the bags, while the other gets the car. It was much easier to drive around to Arrivals and pick up Dh and load the bags, then it was to push all that luggage on and off the elevator or to drag a skycap with you to the Aisle. (Who we tipped $15 in June) This may be common sense, but we sure didnt think of it in June so this may help someone else!

We had an Impala in June and loved it! Great on gas, powerful and huge trunk!

This was the Saturday that Jeanne rolled in so there were very few cars on the aisle. Another Flawless transaction with National. I sure am gonna miss them in Dec! I might bite the bullet and pay more if the holiday rates drop just to be back on the Aisle!

Arrived Oct. 8 at 10pm and there were NO cars on EA. They were having problems with people renting them for 1 way and not getting them back. Anyway, we just walked out to the intermediate aisle, as the guy at the booth was very busy (including a family that had arrived the night before when Nat. had no cars so National was paying for a taxi for them until they could find them a car...and the taxi was waiting.) We chose one of the three intermediate cars and left with no problems. (there were only two of us, so we didn't need anything larger) There were a few full size and executives available. Cost was $62 for Oct. 8-11. Cheaper than car service and we stayed off site the first night since it was so late. I used Priceless code with coupon and contract id.

and arrived in the late afternoon. many Impalas and a few grand ams on the lot. We had a ton of luggage, a stroller, etc and noticed a TrailBlazer SUV on the next aisle. I inquired about it and was told I could have it for $10 more a day. We took it. We were playing less that 190 before, so I did not mind the extra charge.

It had only 63 miles on it when we got it. Took it back the following weekend of Hurricane Jeanne and ther was absolutely no cars on the EA.

We just rented on Oct 6th---arrived before 11am.
One Monte Carlo---which we took.
We saw 3 or 4 mini-vans, and three Malibu's---that was it.

i totally agree we should have a forum on the EA. these emocons arent doing this site justice is it? they need one of little babies or something you know it just makes sense to me. it would be the onesie's!

Are all the older Intrepids off the aisle? I loved that car for vacations.

I'll be renting in a couple of days, so I'll update on what is there.
I just want to double check, I can grab any car on the EA as long as I rent a mid sized car, right?

And I'll be renting Saturday!!! I'll be sure and report back but I don't hold out much hope for anything but an Intermediate!!

As long as you booked Emerald Aisle, an Intermediate size, then you can head right to the EA and pick a car. If it's empty, then you go to the Intermediate aisle.

I've had no luck whatsovever with the EA but I keep holding out hope!!;)

We picked up our car on Saturday October 16th, about 7:45 pm or so. The EA was totally empty! I had a full size reserved, and the full size aisle was also completely empty! They sent us to the Executive selection full size cars and we took one of those. The only cars we saw at all were a couple of Cavaliers, a couple convertibles and 2 large vans. It also took forever to get out of the parking ramp, there were so many people renting cars that night.
